About the Producer
Château de Beaucastel is a winery located in the southern part of the Rhône valley in France, which is primarily noted for its Châteauneuf du Pape wines produced in a long-lived style. For its red Châteauneuf du Pape, Beaucastel includes all 13 grape varieties that are traditionally part of the blend, and uses a higher-than-usual proportion of Mourvèdre. The special Vieilles Vignes cuvée of Beaucastel's white Châteauneuf du Pape is a varietal Roussanne wine, which is rare in Rhône and rarer in Châteauneuf du Pape.

Red berries with overtones of terroir on the bouquet. Oakiness combined with a balance of tannins, with dried red fruits, a hint of pepperiness and a long even finish
Two different noses due to aging, vineyard focuses on reds
Yellow. Rich but light. Silky. Bright. Charming. Stone fruits with some complexity. What a lovely wine.
Descubriendo Francia. Enorme sorpresa
Full bodied, ages nicely
Best chateau neuf I have had. Period.
Heaven in your mouth...

Magnifique
Honeysuckle, peach, lemon-orange marmalade, great freshness and closing minerality and acidity. Greatness, 97-98 No need to age any longer
Pineapple, lychee fruit out of the gate with a mellow roundness. Minerality on the back end, with a hint of slate and oak. Gorgeous wine.
Oh so good. So powerful I can swear I'm getting red candied fruit on this over a slightly oxidative honey comb with great texture and amazing colour. Can't recommend it any higher.
delicious wine worth every penny honey cream peach apricot tropical pineapple apple honeysuckle
96pts me An aged white CDP of 100% Roussane from an old vine plot since 1909. Barrel fermented and new oak aged Superb color of orange crimson Explosive notes of dried apple apple sauce and pear preserves, clove nutmeg and sprinkle of white pepper and loads of almond and walnuts Still have a sense of new oak It is a rich full body white from explosive vintage What a joy to have the richness and not even needing high acid to age
Amazing wine . One of the best whites I’ve ever had. Opened with a nose of intense orange juice, beeswax , honeycomb. Full bodied with great minerality and acidity that makes you mouth water .
2017. Absolument excellent.🍍rôti !
Perfection. A richness that only designer watches will understand. This bottle will tell you the story of how you found it at every sip. A well balanced acidity that is perfect on its own.
Incredible wine. A lot of white flowers, and stone fruits that are just ripe. Smooth, soft and elegant. Unnoticeably, a glass followed by another glass, and quickly a bottle is finished.
Palate pals average as compromised, what I could taste fabulous as was the texture
One of my all-time fave whites. Complex aromatics, viscous, layered and honeyed texture. Balanced acidity with good fruit concentration and length.
This is a rich, savoury, oaky old vine roussanne. I felt it showed best with loads of air, more floral and expressive. Aromas of pear, honeysuckle and Earl Grey tea. It has an opulent, honeyed, textured palate, 14% ABV, herbal with bitter orange grip. Medium(+) acidity, plenty of energy. Delicious with an unusual, excellent starter of pea puree, sweetbreads and prawns. Dinner at Brots, Poboleda, 25th June 2025.
Deep red color. Aroma and taste of strawberry jam, ripen plum, chocolate. Multi layers, powerful, full body. Fresh acidity, fresh silky tannins, lingering aftertaste, enjoyable, ready to drink.
Vines over 100 years. So concentrated, with stunning balance and beautiful acidity what is far from obvious for Roussanne. Quince, pear, white peach, hint of cream, wax. So long. From a cooler vintage.
Smells very farm yard, very deep and savoury aroma, soy source as well. Complex on pallet, black current, soy source, dark plum and black current with toast and dried dark fruit as well. Medium plus alcohol, decent wine.
Originally I thought this was a Chardonnay that had its fruits and tannins deadened by the hammer of time; this is my first experience with Rosanne grapes and they leave a fine long finish that begins with some nice tannins and ends with simple delight! Value could be better
Great.
4.3 skøn hvid chdp. Flot gylden farve og masser af fylde
The 2019 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc is stunning. Its golden hue draws you in, while aromas of ripe peach, apricot, and honeysuckle captivate the senses. On the palate, it’s rich and creamy with flavors of stone fruits, citrus, and a touch of minerality. The finish is long and refreshing, showcasing perfect balance. A beautifully crafted wine that’s enjoyable now and will only improve with time. Highly recommended!
A basket of fruits bottled in this 2012 vintage of Beaucastel, coming from 100% Rousanne of 70+ years old vines. She welcomes us with her bright golden and almost egg-yellow color. Bold peachy tones are accompanied by tropical tones like mellon accents, pineapple details and honey notes to form this extra colorful, sweet and fruity first nose. Minerality is perfectly fine and rich on this silky palate. Cotton candy tones appear in time, together with some strong strawberry details. Very eleg
I've posted quite a few of these which I consider to be the southern rhone's finest white, a 100% roussanne from old vines. The nose gives some honey and flowers but the true fireworks are on the palate with a breathtaking concentration and purity. Overripe pineapple, bitter orange marmelade and almond pastry. The elevated alcohol gives it a distinct bitter sweetness. Similar to the 2007 I had recently it is still very fruit driven. With more time I'd expect the truffles, beeswax and minerals to
Lovely, but diffucult. Developed, caramel, oxidative champagne smell, honey, orange zest. In mouth full body, balance, rich with elegance, but bit short. After couple of hours it becomes more fresh and elegant.
This famous Roussanne is sensational! Hand picked grapes from VERY OLD vines. Pronounced scented tropical fruits, mango, honey, grapefruit and marmalade. Aromatic light golden liquid. 50% fermentation in tank and 50% in oak. It has gone through malolactic fermentation to give the wine more richness. 50% aged in tank and 50% in oak barrel. 6000bottles were produced in 2011. Dry, remarkably low acidity, high alcohol. Full-bodied, creamy, cheesy. A big style on the palate. Tropical notes as well.
Have you ever had a white wine that blew all the reds away? This one did Burnt toast with marmalade, smoked almonds, Christmas cake, with boat loads of of oxidized citrus. Glassy, brilliant, smooth and just sexy.....I felt this in my loins it finished so well. Maybe wine just means a little more to me.....
4.4. Wine #1 in Vancity with Jack, Jojo, Alex, Michael and host Colin. This was a bonus wine from Colin, to kick things off. Wow, this is gorgeous, and I don't often use that word to describe white wine. 100% Roussanne at 13 years of age. Honey, stone fruit, beeswax and white blossoms with beautiful texture and depth of flavour. Soooo good! Thanks Colin!
Big backlog post for NYE. 4.5 (95 pts) Correctly identified blind as Rhône and what a wine. 👍 Mushroom earthy nose, opens over time to honey, yoghurt, waxy and light white pepper. The nose keeps going and going, beautiful. The palate is simply superb, refined and so very tasty, nutty, creamy, totally linear, full, engaging and amazing! Bravo!
4.3 - I’ve been waiting to try this Beaucastel VV and even though I had huge expectations I wasn’t let down by it. The almost elegant and in tune roussanne I’ve ever come across, with subtle saline sea shell notes, tropical hunts and a superb depth just holding together a rather warm finish to near perfection. A wine that is hard to describe, with tons of small things to grab your attention along every sip, but nothing that stands out and dominates. They have made a stellar wine here, pure pleas
I'm not the biggest fan of CdP Blancs but I'll make an exception with Beaucastel's VV which is 100% Rousanne from 70+year old vines. The aromas are kaleidoscopic - dried fruits, honey, marmalade and nuts. In the palate, rich and unctuous. Imagine a 2001 Rieussec without the residual sugar. However this had a strong mineral presence that you find in a Zind Humbrecht GC. Not at full potential as these wines can shut down from ages 5-10years. I'd happily revisit in 15 yrs time.
Sinaasappelschil, zoethout, marsepein, salmiak. Rijp, vol, romig midden. Kardemon, bitterkoekjes en vanille. Enorme lengte. Blijft ontwikkelen.
Pale golden. Beautiful silky feel. Melon, wet stones and licorice. Dry, full body and long finish. Very complex wine. Incredible.
Straw gold. Very complex nose. Apricot, wet wool, smokey. Very balanced on the palate, fruit driven. Long lasting finish. Drink or keep
100% Roussanne from old vines. Subtle stone fruit and almond. Fresh acidity and salinity in ending. A great Southern Rhône white.
Huge wine. Lots of tropical fruit, verbena, herbs, bitter almond, full body. 14% abv. Incredibly complex and needs time to open up.
100% Roussanne, old vines. light golden hue. Apricot, peach, honey, quince, herbs, layered, textured white, minerals. Complex and intriguing
One of the giants from CNP. And it shows! Almost Jammy berries and full body. Deep flavors. You can feel the effect of the Mediterranean warmer weather...wonderful
What a complex wine. Evolving tremendously over time in the glass, waxy nose, honey, layers of fruits from peach to lemon. Palate is rich, full bodied.
100% Rousanne. Phenomenal white Rhone made from old vines. Delicious honey notes, minerality and lots of warm tropical fruit notes - pineapple, melon and mango.
Wine made of Roussane grapes alone. Clear, light golden in color. Sweet, fruity nose. Peaches, apricot and honey flavors and a peppery spice. Semi-sweet. Beautiful.
Honeycomb, acacia, white flower, waxiness, full bodied … beautiful in the making. Will probably continue to become more expressive in the coming years 👍
Consumed in 2016. Typical oxidative style of lanolin and bees wax with nuts and banana. Lots of rocks and richness. Great for what it is, but it is not a wine for many.
Lots of depth and character. Very smooth. The whites from this region are somewhat of a secret as they obviously live in the shadow of the popular reds.
Wow effect is there. Compared to its "minor" cuvée, this monovarietal white cndp it's more precise, palate is richer and acidity more defined. Barrels scents should integrate with age.
Golden yellow colour. On the nose lilacs, honey, pear and minerals. On the palate full bodied with balanced acidity and oily. Dense and intense with a long pineapple finish. Excellent Roussanne!
A superb bottle, ready to drink in January 2015. Very mellow, medium tannins with a lingering finish. Nose of a little tar and cherry, tastes of Rose and hay. Good balance.
Intensity and length at its max, extremely unique and complex nose, full and big on the palate with special character if spearmint gum ..a bit high in alcohol 14%. 95 points
4.5. 100% Roussanne. It was very cool! Deep, intense, oily wine. Well matured, creamy and juicy, apricot, mango, peach, honeycomb, complex and long finish. RP95 WS94. Verdict - excellent!
Non-Burg / Non-Bordeaux French blind dinner. Pink / orange color. Petroleum jelly, richly oxidated dried pecans with aged cheese, plum sauce, savory, nutty, dry and absolutely delicious
14.5% ABV Oaky nose, complex fruit Complex palate starting with dark fruit Quickly turns into tobacco, smoke, tannins on the back of the tongue Spicy end
Medium. Lemon/ Med+ intensity. Acacia. Pear. Lemon. Grass. Mint. Medicinal. Wet stone. White pepper. Cream. Plasticine. Flint. Toast. Petrol. Developing/ Dry. Med+ acidity. Med OH. Med+ body. Pronounced flavour. Long finish
honey peach apricot oak butter minerals
2001 vintage. Golden yellow in the glass - honey - caramel - oil - burnt butter - beeswax - slightly nutty . Interesting to try given the age . Went well with Chinese . Full bodied
Caramel, honey, aged Shaoxing wine、dark cherry.
Dark purple, excellent
Too viscous and buttery. Too much going on.
