Thats a robust wine. Very nice. Gastronomic with nice tannins but not harsh. Good potential of sgig however it has 5'7 of TA and 3'58 PH Needs some more time in bottle (2/5 years). Thats a 2021
Re-taste of this beautiful 2017 Tio pepe en Rama that has started to show some signs of maturity, especially as it has been tasted vertically with its 2018 younger saca. Lovely!
91/100 Aroa had oak, vanilla, black currant and pepper. Flavor was powerful with plenty of tannins, oak, dark fruit, vanilla and licorice. Nice.
Wholesome and delicious. Loads of oakiness and dried berries up front, yet clean and balanced. Some tobaccobox and a bit of licorice. Nice structure. 91.
More bordeaux style. Typical dark berries, plums, tobacco - cigar box - chocolate and coffee.
(4.2) Incredibly polished. Aromas of plum, leather, tobacco and various spices. Medium-full body. Expertly structured tannins. Silky fruit forward palette with black plum, raisin, blackcurrant before spices and pepper build with a finish that adds notes of smoke and vanilla. A must try. Paired really nicely with a rack of lamb.
Blend 🇿🇦 Buy Again? ✅ 💰 €45 - Gift Stellenbosch. Robust red with plenty to say. Cassis, oak, cedar & even a fresh licorice. Has yet to reach its peak but still a beautiful versatile wine, little tight at the moment but I didn't decant. High price especially in SA terms but I have to say it's worth it & more time in bottle will help. I will be back 👍 🍷 Deep garnet 👃 Med+ cassis oak, licorice 👅 Med+ plum, black currant, cedar leather, 💪 Full body, med+ acidity, med+ tannins, 14.5%
The wine has robust and structured profile. This wine typically showcases rich flavors of dark fruits, like blackberries and plums, accented by earthy undertones and subtle hints of tobacco and chocolate. The tannins are firm and well integrated, giving it a smooth yet powerful mouthfeel. With a balanced acidity, it presents a harmonious blend of oak spice and minerality, making it a complex and layered red wine.
dark red colour, nose with citrus, blackberry, chocolate, mouth well balanced, not smokey, well rounded
Stunning en Rama. Actually the ‘23 bottling but vivino wont let me enter it. I love this style but drink it quick each passing day the wine loses freshness. almond yeast nutty saline
いい香り、値段の割には、、かな
This is the 2024 Fino en Rama - unfiltered direct from the barrel. Vivino only recognises 2022 - very dry palate - blossom - elderflower - jasmine - lemon - line - eucalyptus - mint - flint - sea salt - bread dough. Abv 15%.
4.1 This wine is medium ruby colour. It has the M+intensity. Aroma character with blueberry, blossom, red plum, white pepper, smoke(oak), cedar(oak), chocolate(oak), tobacco. Medium+flavours intensity. Dry. M+acidity. M+tannin. M+body. 14% alcohol. M+finish. ピラジンの香りはかなり控えめ。余韻にお肉を食べた時の旨味のようなものを感じる。タンニンの量はあるがとてもスムーズ。エレガントに仕上げられた良いカベルネだと思う。

A top wine espessially for beeing served by glass in the wine bar. This red wine from south Africa is Deep red, smooth on my tongue with red and dark fruits, oak and vanilla. 🍷👍🏼
A: Deep ruby, lighter at the rim with some violet - long distinct legs N: medium + blackcurrant, bramble and herbal, leathery finish P: balanced acidity and structured tannin give a great mouthfeel as this medium(+) body opens up on you. Blackcurrant, game and leather keep giving more, finished with cigar box.
As part of a tasting we went to south of spain and tried the driest version of a xerry, a fino! Clean yellow pale color. The nose is very clean and pleasant, pronounced dry almonds, green olives with a touch of yeasts! The attack is dry with a refreshing acidity, nice bitterness, great through the palate. The almost mid body is supported by a good balance bitterness/acidity, staying for a while the nice flavors of white almond! Very pleasant and very good example of a fino. And cheeeaaaappp!!!
This is last year’s Tio Pepe en Rama but it is still tasting very good, not quite so fresh and vibrant On the nose, a big hit of yeast, oxidised apple, citrus zest Bone dry with lovely nutty, smoked almond. Fresh yeasty notes Briny green olives, umami marmite Bruised apple Lemon zest Long, saline and yeasty finish
Tio Pepe's Spring 2025 bottling of Fino En Rama, this is every bit as vibrant and delicious as when I shared a couple of glasses with @[1|6249174|Alastair] last May. Freshly baked sourdough, sea salt flakes, bruised apple, lemon peel, fines herbes. So much energy. The perfect aperitif with some aged manchego and bitter green olives.
Sherry masterclass, 3rd wine. A Fino ‘En Rama’. This is a Fino, unfiltered and uncleared; ‘En Rama’; to keep more of the richness in the wine. Darker colored, think copper. Hearty tones, richer, more umami. Micro-oxidation. Med+ acidity. Dry and rich. This has punch and depth. Long finale. 17 pts @ Passion4wines
Hazy appearance. Lots of walnut, shiitake mushroom, intense palate. Extremely long aftertaste with salinity and fresh plum. Good!
Great fino en rama. Great scents of oxidized apples, citrus, almonds, hazelnuts. Nice acidity and absolutely fantastic together with almonds or fish
Lovely fino. Dry yet rounded flavour and lovely depth and length. Very enjoyable and super value. Only the 6th release of this by Tio Pepe.
Hazelnut, salted and vanilla nose. Great acid on the palate, developing lovely spicy notes as it slides through the palate. Perfect cheese sherry!
👁 yellow/green 👃🏿 lemon peel, green cardamom, fennel, olive, saline 👄 high alcohol, high acidity, dry, light body, interesting and raw fino
Salted caramel nose. Creamy, dry, with a main body of preserved plums dipped in aged honey, meaty and savory, like a dirty martini
Pronounced raisin, yeast, lemon, honey, sweet spice, fresh cut wood and minerals. High acidity, medium body and long finish. Fresh and crisp.
As usual, delicious. Lots of savoury bread and yeast but also sea salt and citrus. Lots of complexity and long finish. A great food wine.
Almond, hazelnut, orchard fruits, some unripe apple, mushroom, walnut. Finish with umami like miso/natto/chicken stock. Just wonderful Fino!
Fino en Rama bottled on 13 April 2015. Was surprisingly fresh for a 2015 saca. Lots of green apple notes with hints of nuttiness. Very easy to drink.
Great value en Rama Fino. Yeasty and saline with a lick of lemon through the sharp finish. I get this every year and never disappoints
Very dry, cool fino. Good accidity with yeast and flor taste. Wish I was in Jerez eating tapas on a sunny day and a glas of this on the table.
WIP all I remember of hand is "Dry"
Nutty and meaty yeast flavours. Not too rich a texture, more light bodied than I thought it would be. Very light apple notes and great acidity. Lovely with some almonds
2021 release It's been a while since I've had a TP En Rama. Love it, what a nose. Yeasty, green olives. Worked perfectly with an antipasti board. Great stuff
A brooding mix of humid hay and cellar, dried fruits, seaweed and salinity. Yeasty notes, lemon peel, almonds and plenty of acetaldehyde. Intense Fino, great.
Dry, aromatic, sour and salty, sharp. Some apples, honey and white bread. Interesting bitterish woody notes. Some resemblance to Cyser - Mead and Cider blend
Very good en rama fino. Fresh green apples, apple pips, almond, hazelnut, bread dough. Med finish. Great aperitif with some salty nuts/ fuet/ cheese straws. 😋
This years en Rama is a little different. Really fresh, like from the barrel. Obviously very dry, nuts, yeast, saline. Very long. Delicious as usual.
Great fino. Salty, yeasty and with a burst of refreshing lemon citrus. Last years bottling, no doubt this years will be even better drinking right now.
Saltwater, engine oil, almond, lemon. There is a creaminess here too but very fresh. Drink a little older than probably should be for En Rama....this bottle 8/4/21.
Clean and bright. Great freshness, almond and marzipan. Ripe lemon and mineral note. Dry yet round on the palate. Long and persistent. Mouthwatering, easy drinking.
My first taste of En Rama - thrilling, invigorating. Qualities of a natural wine. Tingled on the tongue, with its freshness, vitality and salinity. Absolutely loved it.
A local wine tasting session last night, this was first. It's an unfiltered small release from Tio Pepe, very young, much much more fruity and untempered due to its early bottling. Very nice.
15% alcohol. Mid straw. Lovely nose that is actually quite rich with great flor and presence. Bone dry palate with good depth and a nuttiness. Very pleasant and ultra reliable.
Apple core, salty seaside brine. Lemon pith. The palate is taut and bright to start with and finishes in a saline aftertaste that turns in to walnut skin. Complex, refreshing, delicious
En Rama is a fabulous idea, which makes sherry drinking exciting again. Deliciously fresh and vital, this seems rather 'straighter', less cloudy, and a touch less thrilling than previous bottlings.
Just sublime. Saline, nutty and a whiff of green melon. On the palate, there’s a wonderful creamy texture. Very saline, almost peppery. Almonds and hazelnuts; and a long intense finish.
Delicious, exotic liquid fruit, immediate flavours of sultanas and raisins mingled with figs. Wonderful by itself as an after dinner drink, with rich desserts or on ice cream.
Lovely fino from Tío Pepe. Perfumed and intense nose of chalk, almonds, camomile, lemon peal, breaded and yeasty notes. Balanced acidity. Fresh and sour persistent aftertaste.
Nice, not angry fino here. Very slight saline chocolate nose. Initially lemon : lime start fades quickly to almond yeast and cheese. A little oily feel, but overall a nice light fino.
Light yellow. Nose is oxidised and nutty with notes of wheat dough, almonds, overripe apples and some hints of chamomile. Mouthfeel is pleasant, oxidised, with notes of brioche, almonds, chamomile and overripe apples. Very nice fino with lots of character!
Just a normal Friday in Haus Gunz, part 1: sherry starter. ‘En rama’ style means as close to coming out of the cask as possible. Only 18k bottles of the 2020 vintage made. This is the 11th year this style released and the winemaker says that the mild winter of this vintage created the ideal conditions for flor development. I loved the complex nose of walnuts, almonds, cheese, bruised apple, bakery and lemon zest. So much going on. Dry. Low acidity. Med body. Med+ intensity with sea salt on the
Appearance: Pale intensity and color Lemon. At the nose, the intensity is Pronounced. Primary aromas are Green fruit (Apple Gold), secondary aromas are Lees (Bread Dow), Yeast, and tertiary aromas of Almond peel. At the palate is Dry, Medium acidity, Low alcohol, Medium body. Flavor intensity is Pronounced and can be found Olives, Almond peel with a Long finish. Overall, the wine can be considered as Very good
Medium golden and hazy in the glass. Medium aromas of bitter almond, lemon zest, yeast, broth, cheese. Dry, medium + acidity, medium body, medium flavours of lemon zest, bruised yellow apple, yeast and aspirin, medium finish. Very good
Biscuit is more in the forefront here, but I noticed the expected sea salt, citrus, green olive, and honey flavors of an en rama fino. Richer palate than filtered fino, but still fairly light and very drinkable. Well rounded and balanced, pungency is present but balanced. Just had the Equipo I Think and these two share similar profiles, with this one being more restrained.
Straw coloured and lightly hazy. Almond and bread on the nose. Some apple, but the prevailing flavours arenutty, with almond, yeast and bread. A good salt-iness as you'd expect. I love this stuff. More.
Thanks to @[1|12697687|Lisa Harlow] for bringing this latest vintage of Tio Pepe's 'en rama' round, only bottled in spring when the flor is apparently at its thickest. Intense salinity - think hot dog brine! Green olive, bruised apple, yellow apple. Incredibly fresh, and still that touch of nail varnish... 💅😅
My love of En Rama (straight from the cask) fino continues and this is an example of how a massive brand can do world class wines in a very positive way. This is yeasty, pungent, green and briny. Hard to put the bottle down and with any Spanish food, it is a winner. With Gaspacho (the specialty of the region), it is a perfect match imo
This is an unfined and unfiltered sherry. Pale gold colour. Medium (+) intensity on the nose, with notes of almond, walnut, nail polish, salt, bread yeast, lemon peel, green apple and minerality. The palate is dry, with high acidity, medium alcohol, pronounced flavour intensity, and a medium body. The palate mirrors the nose, with many oxidative influences. I noticed castelvetrano olive and saline notes on the palate. The finish is medium (+). Very good quality: drink now, not suitable for furth
4,0⭐️ Lovely fino. 10th edition. 👁 Light straw yellow. 👃 Yeast, bread, oxidation, apples, walnuts. 👅 Medium (+) body, very good acidity. Complex, oxidated, almonds, saltiness, apples, citrus. Elegant bitter finish. 🍇 Palomino 100 %. 🕰 Bottled April 11th 2019. Without filtration or clarification. Alc: 15 % Bottled in spring when the “flor” growth is as its thickest.
Always a big fan of fresh Fino especially en rama. Considering a challenging year of 2022 for travelling, it's more meaningful to enjoy a bottle of this vintage. Intensive almond, yeast, olive, saline and edgy acidity on palate. Brings back the wonderful memory of Jerez at every sip.
⭐️ 90 P/ 4.0* Greatly balanced with a fine complexity and length. Strong but elegant. Drink it pure – do not mix. 📌 en rama = no filtering 👁 Pale lemon color. 👃 A bit closed, med intense – lemon zest, green apple, overripe (ethanal) and dried apples, roasted nuts, green walnut, olives, dried herbs, yeast, wet stone. 👅 Dry with a med acidity. Low alc (for a fortified) but intense flavors on the palate. Med- body and a long finish with notes of roasted almonds, overripe apples and yeas
Tasting Gonzales-Byass. Pleasant, clean, complex Fino with long finish. Grapefruit, pear, acacia blossom, almond, floor wax, minerals.
Bone-dry and crisp fino with depth and complexity. Classic flavors of nuts along with apple, candied citrus and salty minerality.
Yellow colour with a hint of haze. Aromatic nose of bread, hint of nuts, fruit, citrus, grass, almond yeast nutty saline apple lemon walnut salt. Good acid, dry.
Nothing to add more than previous 9/2023 evaluation about this fino. Producer is NOT Tio Pepe even Vivino proposed it. Producer IS Familie Gonzalez-Byass.
My first “real” sherry. Surprisingly sour. I was expecting a lot of raisins and sweetness but it’s tart and grabs you by the throat. Lovely long lasting throat flavor
for Fino en Rama 2022 by González Byass (Jerez (DO), 🇪🇸) 📌: 🍇 Palomino Fino 100%, alc. 15% 👀: nice shiny yellow, clean and developped 👃: mineral, nuts 👅: medium+-bodied, fresh but slightly aged, nice acidity, tasty, yeast, 🌼, seabreeze, tree fruits medium+ finish 🌠: 3,9 QPR: worth 19,50 €uros (Vivino's average price) Buy again: yes Another vintage: es Comment: excellent aperitif with tasty olives, serve well chilled down...👍
Been getting into Fino Sherry lately and this is amazing quality for a modest sum. Really like the regular one too, more lean and elegant, but this is a clear step up with rich and heavy autumn apples, yeast, dried apricots, ripe lemon, orange rind, and intriguing spice notes.
Such a satisfying wine style & reliable producer! Also very convenient half bottle format for this Jerez. Nose of massive perfumed fresh green olive, salt, nuts, softly salted almond & oxidized citrus. Mid body feel (yet 15%), fresh steely linear mouthwatering acidity. Jerez is more an aftertaste thing than a palate thing, so this lingers on forever with all the above, especially green olive & salt. Mouthwatering, satisfying, great food match. Love this stuff. 3,8⭐️
Tried this at Sobratablas. Slight salt, minerals, not sweet at all. Quite surprised this could be paired with savoury appetiser.
Well balanced and easy drinking Fino. Very tasteful with a yeasty style. Taste of yellow apples minerality citrus zest and macadamia nut
Bodegas Tio Pepe, Jerez. Eastern break visit & tasting. Sherry fino palomino. The “en rama” is the non filtered version of this top sales and world famous, fino from Bodegas Tio Pepe. A classical.
More gastronomic than your regular tio pepe due to unfiltered and long contact with yeast. You feel more fruit, green apple, almonds and cream balanced with nice acidity and roundness.
👍 ES93 AD93. En Rama means that this sherry selected from the best barrels is not filtered or clarified, preserving its expression and purity. 15% alcohol. La Pastina 02/25
Fair warning, I love dry sherries, so I am biased. This new vintage of fino en rama from tio pepe is very characteristic of what you might expect. Nice bread and yeast aromas, with a subtle hint of olive and almond in there as well. On the palate it is lovely, lively and fresh. It opens up into subtle fermented apple flavour mixed with herbs and a bit of clove like spice. All in all, delightful. I feel like I'm back in Seville.
Sherry catch up notes from the archive for personal reference. Tio Pepe’s En Rama, bottled straight from the cask, unfiltered & unstabilised. More complex & concentrated than regular TP. Med lemon. Very fresh & yeasty w. bruised apple, bread & almond milk. Nutty w. bruised pear & almond shell. Acetaldeyde. Fully developed. Dry. Yeasty w. bruised apple & dried nuts. Med bodied w. m(-) acid, low alc (for a fortified) & almond milk. The m+ finish impresses.
Drinking for pleasure. Limited TNs. A little bit of en Rama (unfiltered) complexity / texture. Subtle fruity nutty notes.
For the 2023. Lots of salt on the nose. Fresh seaside smell some straw roast almond linear. Bone dry, A little roast apple in the mouth. Almonds more at the forefront and still lots of salt. Some toast.
Golden coloured, medium+ bodied, very dry with high acidty. Nose leads with nutty cheese cured meat, notes of citrus salt smoke oil, saline pallet with a green almond bitterness to it, this should be served with cured meats!
カベルネ・ソーヴィニヨンの魅力が伝わるバランスのとれたワイン。 清潔感のある木、酵母、偏りのない果実味。テクスチャーはなめらかで酸味も綺麗。
2024 bottling: Drier than I remember from previous years. Still crisp with strong notes of toasted almond and yeast. Something of fig or Mediterranean herbs, as well.
Bone dry Sherry, full of nutty aromas with citrus and yeast on the nose. The palate is a mix of pear and lemon with a saline quality and a nutty, almond finish.
behold the quick and salty tapas - youve got a friend- salted lemon, citrus peel, almond, slightly fuller body, few whiffs of acetaldehyde (hey nail polish you were missed)…. great honestly priced companion served quick!
'En Rama' sherries are bottled in their most natural state: unfiltered, not clarified, straight from the cask. This fino is bone dry, pure, refreshing yet complex, and more fruity and untamed in flavour profile than most finos, which threw me off on the pairing. It was not a good match for sashimi, but it would happily complement a wide range of cured meats, cheeses, olives & tapas instead. A savoury nose of grilled almonds, dried figs, crumbly cheeses and seawater, with an undercurrent of hawth
