Dark fruit, sea mist, warm sandstone and sweaty musk. Sweet, sultry and heavy. Warms you on flavor notes alone, well maybe that's actually the abv.
Excellent vin doux. Puissant avec des notes de fruits noirs. Un vrai régal!
Intense (in a good way!) sweet toffee, caramel and chocolate cherry notes. Delectable balance between typicalate harvest and a port.
sweet, smeels excellent, strong, but smooth and balanced.
Lush, chocolate, cherry
NV/2023 MeinWeinkeller.ch Toll. Super PLV. Beeren. Rauch. Perfekt zu Schokoladekuchen
Goes with chocolate. Tastes like peanut butter and jelly
Nice dessert wine. Lighter than port.
Très beau fruit, pas sirupeux ni écoeurant.
Woah, this is good!! Currently chugging this with a couple of fondant au chocolat. This feels like it’s going to be sweet, but then hits you in the face with mega juice instead.
Deep ruby color. Pronounced aromas of dark cherry, blueberry, caramel, dried figs, raisins, chocolate, vanilla, blackberry, cloves, licorice. Pronounced intensity, sweet chocolate cherry, blueberry, caramel, dried figs, raisins, vanilla, prunes, cloves, licorice dessert wine, full body and luscious.
A special treat, this French fortified wine was suggested by a sommelier friend at our favorite restaurant tonight specifically to compliment chocolatey, which it did very well. 16% ABV, it's slightly lighter than most port, though in taste quite comparable to good Ruby. Rich, dark notes of aged fruit and the subtle backbone that only liqueur can provide, this is a wonderful wine, and has me eager to begin exploring the world of French fortification.
Milder than most dessert wines Ive tried. Plenty of cassis and spice to round out the nose and palate. Very delicious.
Wonderful dessert wine. Great with chocolate.
Not too sweet, great with a cake-based dessert.
Could be a new favourite instead of port Wine
Wine #7 Canadian Degustation This was such a surprisingly good match with our savoury dessert, who'd have thought? The wine is made primarily with Grenache with the fermentation stopped to give some residual sweetness. It is light (not viscous or sweet) with dark fruit & some caramel-like flavours.
Dessert wine dinner 2022. Great with chocolate tort.
Light purple color. Lovely desert wine that we had with sour cherry amaretti cookies and chocolate ganache stuffed prunes. Flavors of the wine perfectly matched the desert flavors.
Nice French dessert wine. Chocolate and caramel notes.
Very nice and smooth for being so young
Goede dessertwijn. Stevig (pinot) en kruidig & romig qua smaak, korte afdronk.
Notes de café et de pruneaux. Très fin. Délicieux avec un roquefort.
Superb discoveey at a local wine place in Bernay (at Chant d'ivresse) Prune, cherry, chocolate, coffee, wood, ripe fruit. Amazing!
Dark ruby colour. Aromatic with an interesting mix of Ripe black fruit, chocolate, cherry, raspberry and spice. Medium plus bodied and sweet. Luscious fruit, rich in dark chocolate and sweet spice. Hint of maple chai. Mild acidity.
Not overly sweet, jam and hint of mint on the nose. Notes of blackberry pie, with hints of dark chocolate.
[Ledbury] Similar to port, toffee, dulce de leche
Excellent vin dessert. Grosse notes de chocolat. Idéal pour un brownie
It tastes gay
Non vintage style Banyuls with very minimal oxidation. Produced in solera system with oldest wines dating back to 1952. Lots of black fruits on nose, off dry style with some chewy tannins and a dry and slightly bitter finish. Perfect to drink on its own, a bit light to hold up desserts, perhaps a dark chocolate mousse would go very well.

Another first-time experience for me, with sampling the Southern France Dessert Wine Banyuls. What a stunning taste adventure! 👁: Medium Ruby👃: strawberries, spice 👅: dark chocolate, prunes. Full-Bodied. M+Tannins. Sweet (as you would expect from Fortified wine) but not overtly. Perfect! 16.5 ABV. Paired with an Apple Gallette and Ice Cream for dessert while dining at the restaurant The Frog & The Peach. I want to buy a bottle for home now! 😂
First time trying French dessert wine. Not my Port, but its a nice, light change from tradition. Fruitier and more citrus notes on nose and palate. I'd order it again, but Spring-time, not Christmas time. Had as dessert at Left Bank in Santana Row.
Beautiful. On the nose, blackcurrant jam. Smooth caramel, sticky black fruits on the palate.
Loved this as a cheaper alternative to port. Familiar rich dried fruit, but gentler on the stomach with lower alcohol.
Machtige wijn. Mooie met chocolade dessert
great valentine present. went really well with dark chocolate truffles
Very good dessert wine. Not heavily fortified. Slightly sweet, but not overly so. Good sipping.
Rich red cherry, chocolate, full body, balanced acidity and sweet, really fantastic with some B&J death by chocolate ice cream
Dark red wine with tuilé rim. Intense nose with black cherry, fig, raisin, gingerbread, nuts. Sweet, light acidity, light tannins, full body, fruity, spicy and nutty, long finale.
👀 Medium ruby👃 Medium(+) intensity with aromas are of strawberry, red cherry, black pepper, cinnamon, and violet 👅 The wine is sweet with medium(+) acidity, ripe medium tannin, low alcohol, and medium(+) body. Medium(+) flavor intensity and a medium(+) finish. The flavors are of strawberry, cinnamon, and black pepper 🧠 The wine is very good. Suitable for bottle aging.
Dessert wine. Sweet and easy to drink. Light body. But hard to open the cork. chocolate raisin caramel
Dried fruit, lemon, almonds, spice, raisins, very good sweet white, lots of tension and acidity, great value!
Prune, cocoa and cherry. Definitely sweet but not cloying. Really pleasant sweet wine, less aggressively alcoholic than a lot of Banyuls.
A sweet nose with a hint of pungency. Sweet flavor but not overtly so. A nice finish that coats the tongue. A good dessert ending.
Sweet cherries, blueberries that dlowlyconverge to mint and rosemary, the acidity is good, tannins low. Fortified but not too sweet with a touch of finesse, I like it!
Prune, it’s prune with notes of prune and a prune finish. Think Maggie Smith in Downton Abbey. Amusing but well trammeled a sugary dowager of sorts.
This port is fantastic. I would not have ordered it myself but the fantastic staff at the restaurant (Le Caveau) suggested it. I definitely need to purchase this again.
Rating #500. Never thought I would get here. The features wine is an excellent dessert wine that paired perfectly with chocolate hazelnut dessert at Chez Sophie in Montreal, a great restaurant btw. Toffee, caramel and oak flavors dominate. A good one.
Medium Ruby - purple colour. Bit of an HP sauce aroma (!) molasses, tamarind, dates? Really sweet and syrupy taste but also dry and tannic for a dessert wine with a lingering, warming, finish. Alcoholic Vimto so cherry, plum and cassis flavours.
Delicious after-meal treat. Has a nose of prune, dark fruit, cherry, vanilla, and chocolate. Complex and sweet, with a wonderful mouthfeel. Quite filling and sweet enough that a 375ml bottle was more than enough for a few people.
Medium ruby colored. Chocolate, caramel, chocolate nose. Super fruity, cherry like. “Très gourmand” Heavy in mouth. High alcohol. Long finish. Process speaking is bottled early to maintain the fruity aromas.
Nicely priced fortified Grenache. Very easy and enjoyable.
Trying to answer the question of whether by aging a rimage you get a vintage…. Here I would rather say no with a much cleared color and lots of sediment. Very drinkable still but no real improvement with ageing
Caramel and blackberry jam
First time having a Banyuls. Long finish but much lighter body than a port. This also seems a bit sweeter as well. Notes of Cherry, Caramel and prunes. I would not drink this by itself but pairing it with a chocolate dessert is fine.
Aromas of red and black plums, white pepper, licorice, and red/black cherries on the nose. Sweet with ripe red and dark fruit and spice flavours on the palate. Good concentration with a long finish.
Fruita i potència en boca.
Sweet, dark canned cherry flavor
Rustic and concentrated. Toasted nuts, plums and cherries, with a high note of bittersweet chocolate. Smooth on entry, plenty of juicy black cherries. Lovely finish.
Simpele wijn met zeer goede smaak
Vanilla nose Taste like raisins
dessert wine is not for me
