About the Producer
Ornellaia is an Italian wine producer in the DOC Bolgheri in Toscana, known as a producer of Super Tuscan wine. Ornellaia is considered one of Italy's leading Bordeaux-style red wines. The estate also produces a second wine, Le Serre Nuove, the blend Le Volte, the Merlot-labeled varietal wine Masseto, a second wine of Masseto, in addition to estate production of grappa and olive oil. In 2012, the winery's name was changed from "Tenuta dell'Ornellaia" to "Ornellaia e Masseto", in recognition of the increasing importance of the Merlot-based wine.

Autant dire que c’est un produit peu connu et difficile à trouver ! J’ai eu le plaisir d’y goûter dernièrement et c’est une très belle découverte. Il y a encore une belle acidité et pas trop de sucre ce qui fait que de n’est pas écoutant. Cela sent le miel les abricots et c’est très bon

An incredible desert wine that has golden raisin, vanilla and mild oak on the nose. The light body lets you savor it slowly on the pallet as the notes unfold. Over time you’ll taste honey and perhaps some pear. If you can find it and share with friends who will thank you for the experience. It is truly fantastic.

🍇 Petit Manseng. 12M 🪵 Bon par où commencer? Multitude de ressenti, de plaisir, de joie.. Sa robe affiche la couleur, ambrée, qui annonce richesse. Des fruits secs, abricots séchés, pâte de coing, une tranche d'orange enrobée de douceur.. et d'une subtile note d'élevage briochée. Amplitude aromatique et crémeuse, c'est fruité et doux avec beaucoup d'élégance, de justesse, de longueur.. Plaisir rare..
With all the Ornellaia I have ever tried I cannot believe I have never had the Ormus. This has immediately become one of my favourite dessert wines! Honey, caramel, pineapple and marmalade.
Liquid gold that I probably drank too early, but oh was it worth it. Unfortunately there’s no formal notes as it was the 4th bottle of the night, but it’s one that I’ll buy more of. Hopefully I can refrain from opening for a few years at a minimum.

Very complex sweet wine. Really satisfied, complex aroma notes, floral and honey, almond on the palate, hint of oak. Very well balanced. Long aftertaste.

Well, if you enjoy orange rind in your sweetie, that is the way to go. Elegant acidity keeps everything in balance. Very nice. A bit pricey.

A very fun evening last Saturday with my wine buddies @[1|471812|Aaron B] and Robert, at Enigma Fine Dining. A great restaurant, but overpriced in my opinion. Notes are sketchy at best. The final wine of the evening, my treat, is hard to find in 🇨🇦. Made from Petit Manseng, the nose offers typical apricot, pineapple, honey and caramel. A perfect pairing to the fabulous dessert offered. With a tasting menu at $240, and corkage at $70, this restaurant may best be described as a once in a lifet
honey apricot butterscotch acacia coconut nutty orange peel, baked sticky rice in bamboo. Medium body wine, medium(-) acidity. Creamy, rich and a bit oily, with a high level of sweet, but everything in this wine is well integrated. The creamy layer glide across all over the palate showing great complexity, beautiful aroma, and harmony mouthfeel that make me smile after the wine go through my throat. Really love the wine and will buy it more for the future consumption.
DC's Ornellaia dinner 18.5.23 Superb dessert wine, unique bottle, ethereal unctuous delight! Golden amber color, intensely aromatic with sweet honeyed, pineapple and quince notes alongside dried apricot pear. Lemon to grapefruit flavours and freshness on the medium palate, great depth intensity to enjoy to the last drop! Not too tangy sweet or petrol minerality (unlike a Tokaji) but has that delicious cloying umami aftertaste, luscious & memorable. 100% Petit Manseng 12.5% alc Dosage 130g/l
Desert wine from Ornellaia made in the still that is often found in Alto Adige, notes of caramel, honey and some white pepper. Beautiful acidity balances the sweetness and makes the wine extremely elegant and feminine. Can also be enjoyed very well without accompaniment but will certainly go perfectly with a nice local desert.
Thank you @Boom This is the most lavishing bottle of the night. We paired this with a Lemon cake baked by @Irene W Great dessert wine always have great amount of acidity to balance the sweetness. Enjoying the apricot, peach, marmalade, nectarine and with a bitter finished of both the wine and the cake... makes this pairing a good combination.
Good to have this bottle shared over dinner. Rare bottle and golden hue. Nose of peaches and mouth pear and ripe fruit.

Sehr ausgewogen, mit etwas Sauternes-Einschlag, aber nicht ganz so dicht. Durchaus elegant.

How sweet it is. A pleasure to enjoy this Tuscan nectar again. Honey, apricot, caramel, toffee with viscous texture and balanced acidity. Perfect with an affogato.

Was quite inebriated by that point so don’t remember that much about this wine other than it being a sticky that was well balanced with acidity. The stupid shape of the bottle and the winery will of course stops me From ever buying a bottle, but I did enjoy a glass on the night
