Complex, tough wine requiring serious meat companionship, rubber, dry tannins
Fantastic
Violet, rose petal, sour cherry, strawberry, cranberry, leather, tobacco leaf, mushroom and earth. Drinking beautifully right now. Great balance!
Hedonistic level- medium plus Medium garnet in eye Pronounced nose: earthiness, iron, raspberry, orange zest Palate: raspberry, black tea, dark chocolate, licorice, cinnamon High acidity High tannins (little grainy) Fullbodied Long finish
95 Great juice, nicely aged.
See prev notes. Decant for an hour or two.

Lovely Barolo from great year - ready to drink now
earthy licorice cherry

Palate density a hallmark as is elegance to go with its considerable drive. Lovely perfume. Long, long finish it is. Cherry, leather, earthy and spice notes. High tannin, high acidity, medium+ body. Great texture too.

Full bodied. Very Tannic, lasting flavor on the tongue. Initial notes of mushroom and oak. Slight blackberry and vanilla finish. Fantastic bottle.
Extremely dense and complex. Balsamic. A lot of mass in the mouth. cherry oak licorice mushroom. If you don't let him breath it is 0.2/0.4 points less
A hint of leather and tobacco on the nose. For the palate, there's cherry, dark fruit and plum. The finnish is long, slightly tart and dry.
Very nice Barolo, pretty subtle and delicate. Aromas of red cherries, licorice, star anise, earth, and blood orange. On the palate it’s clean, pure, very fresh, with a typical Barolo structure - high acidity, big tannins and full body. 2016 is showing first signs of aging, bit of mushrooms, can go for a few more years, but not for an entire decade, I think.
The forth Cru Barolo from the tasting line-up is Gabutti, this vineyard has clay soil which leads to a wine with more elegance and refinement, but this one will needs another 3-5 years, right now it is super tannic with high pitched acidity, medium body with ruby garnet color, nose smells of Morello cherry, pomegranate, raspberry, cranberry, red vine licorice, cinnamon and dried orange peel, mouth puckering with refined structure, tastes of dried strawberry, dried cranberry, maraschino cherry, c
Strawberries, leather, medium light body, medium tannin.
Dark cherry, leather smoke with medium high bold tannins
Delicious and light, @[1|60432085|Cassandra Russell] better once it opens. Cherry and leather
2012. Decanted for an hour but was still tight and closed. The next hour was way better though. On the drier side but generally smooth tannin and nose of red fruits. Recommend decanting for a bit.
Beautiful Barolo Cheers 🍷🍷
Medium body (light for a barolo) and medium red color…fruity earthy nose…crisp opening is notably tannic, tart, with leathery minerals that sustain to the finish…hints of dark fruit become more notable on the back end…and finish is predominantly tannic….what is expected for a Barolo, but on the lighter side…@[1|8182958|John Stankunas]@[1|58650344|Brian Adrian]@[1|31916478|Matthew Braunwart]@[1|59391960|Angela Addesso]
Happy Nebbiolo Memorial Day🇺🇸 Monday🍇. Dinner with great friends last week in 🇨🇦 with @[1|10538791|Adele Rubin-Herzenberg]. Beautiful medium garnet color, cherry and red fruit, plum vanilla baking spice prune and some oak. Med+ bodied earthy and very dry with firm tannins and high acidity. Excellent with mushroom risotto and bucatini con guanciale with black pepper tomato and pecorino romano cheese 😋. Photos on Instagram 📸🇮🇹🍷😎
Paired with lamb chops. The best combo
Needs to open up a few hours, but quite nice once it does.
1999 vintage showing character and elegance.
very similar wine than the other cru monvigliero but this one shows riper fruits and fine grained tannins!!! VERY GOOD
Nice little Barolo. Dark fruit, medium to full body. Firm tannins with a touch of acidity makes this very fresh and fun to drink.
Plum jam figue cherry mushroom licorice earthy cherry oak tar plum dried fruit dried strawberry balsamic graphite tobacco leaf maraschino cherry
Way way too early for this style Barolo. Confirmed by leaving the bottle open overnight. Really comes alive with complex notes and tough tannins. Try again in 10 years
A bit light on the body but the taste is really good. Very easy to drink and will most likely go with any foods, especially pastas, vegetables, and hearty cheeses.
I like Sordo's wines, and this Barolo is no exception. Violet and tar on the nose which are also included in the palate. together with cherry and peach
90/100 Pronounced ink and spawn on the nose. Palate is smoother than 2015 vintage. Wine is further, but personally thinner and lighter. Still aristocratic.
Red cherry with notes of mulled plum. Barn wood, cedar and wet wet stone. Acidity and tannins have smoothed out and create a softer touch than traditional Barolo.
Jammy fruits and fresh picked violets on the nose. Ripe plum and cherry up front, wonderfully dry throughout, with soft tannins that round out a deploy complex wine. Great value!
2012. Medium-full body, medium-firm tannins, medium-firm acidity. Black cherry, oak, leather on the palate. A hint of anise and bacon on the nose, dark chocolate, blackberry preserves. Good now, can definitely last several more years in the bottle.
Not at its highest point. I expect it will improve with a couple more years of ageing (2023) Violet, black cherry, plum and some tobacco with a hint of pomegranate. Rotund, balanced tannins, smooth.
Nice brick red color. Candied fruit on the nose. Cherry, anise and nutmeg. Fine, well integrated tannins. Mineral and dry throughout, with just a hint of sweetness on a lasting finish. Not quite as big as other Barolo's I've had but excellent nonetheless.
Medium garnet. Some dust, spice, mushroom, earth on the nose. Palate is very strong MUSHROOMS, something like sautéed morels, very earthy. Slight oak notes (tobacco, wood, cocoa). Fruit, very recessive, is of dried strawberries and cherries. Some ashy minerals on the tongue. No funk. Light-to-medium bodied, medium-to-high tannins and medium acidity. Purchased January 2018.
Started out a little raw with a tart acidity but became fully balanced during four hours of aeration. Floral and fragrant nose with rose petals, cherries, beet root and a whiff of shoe polish. Cherries, raspberries, and licorice on the young and juicy palate. Very dry finish but sometimes it’s good to get a tannic gum attack. Traditional style with no make-up. My first encounter with Sordo is a good one. Gabutti is a cru in Serralunga.
Nice though relatively short finish. Typical flavor profile with nice amount of spice. Heavier tannins.
Oaky and huge. I’m inexperienced on the subtleties of the grape. Know a dynamite one, this is not, just impressively good.
Nice and bold Barolo. Good tannins and bright acidity. Needed to breathe for a bit to smooth out the first sips.
Plum fruits. Lighter body for a Barolo. Balanced acidity and medium fine grained Nebbiolo tannins. Really Good.
Excellent wine for the price!! Very smooth for what this offers. Trying to entertain a rich person you should serve this!!
Noite de Barolos… WS95, W&S 90, JR 17+. Barolo se respeito, com grande persistência, elegante. Acidez e frescor na medida! Destaca notas de cereja. RF 94
Excellent. Good with Copper River Salmon.
Earth tones, currants, mushroom, clove, spices
2015 Sordo Barolo Gabutti. A classic Barolo from the Gabutti Single Vineyard, clean and pure style Barolo. Tasted in Aug 2024.
Best QPR in the line up of this maker.
Not fully body Barolo wine but still great.
Nice dark cherry nose with a medium body tannic earthy mouthfeel. Nice dry tannic finish.
Nice Barolo that we decanted and paired with Steak.
Very earthy with a dry smoky finish! Loved it!
Very good wine. 88
Light body but huge. Acid tannin and big
4.0⭐️ Expected more. Not so good value.
Strawberry straw nice tanins
Excellent Barolo. Smooth, upfront flavor.
Fresh nose of red cherries, roses, tar and rubber. Acidic and tight. 92p
Great flavors of fruit, mild tannins, nice dry finish
Smooth, not very punchy though
