About the Producer
d'Arenberg is an Australian wine company founded in 1912. All of its vineyards are located in South Australia's McLaren Vale wine region, although some of the wines they make are produced from grapes sourced from the Adelaide Hills wine region and other parts of the Fleurieu zone. It is now owned by the fourth generation of the Osborn family, headed by Chester Osborn. d'Arenberg are known for the quirky names of their wines, and their specialism in the vines of the Rhône valley. They also produce many of their wines in a traditional manner, using basket pressing for both reds and whites and leaving the vast majority of the red wines unfiltered and unfined which can cause the wine to throw a sediment in bottle but leaves the flavour intact. The majority of their red wines are suitable for ageing as well as for drinking fairly young and even the cheaper wines show very well after a few years in bottle. Perhaps their best known wine is 'The Dead Arm Shiraz', made from fungus-infected shir

Bright and fresh with an attractive Zing to it. A Xmas crowd pleaser. Happy to have a bottle of this in the fridge for any occasion.
This should be great; right grapes, right method etc, but Meh.
As Paulina tendencies go, all the positives strike you on this. Big citrus zing. Cut of green apple. Acidity is strong but not overpowering. Chardonnay leads.

13092022 - degustation lunch with wine pairing at D’Arrys Verandah. subtle bubbles with tropical nose & citrus fruits. Crisp and refreshing on the palate with off dry finish.
citrus green apple toast pear brioche cream lime lemon zest minerals honey orange peel grass fun and fresh wine with good quality. Piercing acidity with touch of lees contact. Solid body but overall light texture. Some sweetness on nose, but very dry on tongue. New world style, and also seriously made. NV
At the eclectic and always fun d’Arenberg vineyard in McLaren Vale in S.A. Polllyanna, named after the current winemaker’s mother, is their sparkling wine, produced in the Adelaide Hills. A blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunir, and matured for 4 years on lees, the wine shows plenty of apples and pears, with decent lemon & lime citrus and some brioche - quite bubbly though. A decent SA sparkling!!
Sparkling Friday! Classic blend PN/CH from Adelaide hills. Yeasty nose, citrus and bread. Med+ acids, little rough around the edges, spicy, short mousse. Med+ finish. 14/15 pts
