A very smooth, expressive wine with soft tannins and long aftertaste. Red fruits and a glance of smoke on the nose. A really good choice and an extremely good vfm wine.
Cherry, violet, pepper and liquorice (tiny bit) - merlot really comes through.
Nice rich blend, great full red color with beautiful legs on the glass. Dry, dry wine, smooth cherries, a bit of hint of sour cherry too, some liquorice and a nice vanilla finish. Enjoyed it along the entire lunch
Another bottle brought home from our recent Corfu 🇬🇷 holiday! They are disappearing rapidly! Blend of Xinomavro, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah & Merlot from Naoussa 🇬🇷 Fermented in stainless steel tanks with skin contact for 7 days, matured in 🇫🇷 oak barrels for 12 months & a further 24 months in bottle before release 👁️ Medium ruby👃Vanilla, chocolate, blackberry, black plum, blueberry, black cherry, red cherry, redcurrant, earth, graphite 👅 Dry, high acidity, smooth mouthfeel, More ⬇️ ⬇️
Deep red colour with terracotta tints, a rich bouquet from ageing, with distinct aromas of dried fruit, plum, fig, and forest fruit jam. These co-exist with sweet spices, with vanilla dominating. Rich taste, excellent balance, complexity and long aftertaste.

Létt en nokkuð bragðmikið gott vín.
Fresh and light
Aged red red wine. Deep red color, full bodied, dry with vivid taste of plum and vanilla.
Medium bodied red. Dark fruit and tomatoes on the nose, with pepper and tobacco on the palate. Well balanced with good length.
Medium to full body with medium acidity. A very different nose with notes of tomato, black olive and plum and on the palate - tobacco, blackberry, vanilla and oak.
Clear with medium garnet colour. Medium nose intensity with aromas of plum, blackberry, sun dried tomato, black olives, smoke, vanilla, leather, forest floor and mushroom. The nose is developing. Dry palate with medium+ acidity, medium+ tannins, medium alcohol and medium+ body. Flavor of red plum jam, black olives, tomato leaves, vanilla, mushroom and tobacco. Medium finish with aftertaste of plum jam, smoke and dark chocolate. Drink it now or keep it for a couple more years. Excellent QPR!
Highly recommended to meat meal lovers! But don’t try this after it’s opening. Let it 20-30´ minutes to breath and then you ll not regret. It’s a nice blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. Very nice aromas of Black fruits, pepper, leather, tobacco and oak overrun your pallete. Body is medium and aftertaste sensation medium- long. Acidity in good levels for Greek wine( the most of them have high acidity). It s a well balanced wine which will not disappoint you for your choice.
One of the best vfm Greek red. Family dinner last night with a wine from Boutaris estate that wrote its history in Greek winepedia! A combination of Greece=Xinomavro + World=merlot + CS .+ Shiraz! Aromas of blackberries, tomatoes, black olives pate and currants! Medium body. High tannins. Taste of a round Xinomavro in the mouth! Yiamas!!!
I was a little wary of this wine when I found it in a little supermarket on the island of Poros. You don’t normally find wines of this vintage for under €10. But it was from a large winery that I knew well so I took a punt. Certainly on first opening it reeked of age, with a brownish rim and a a raisin and honey nose. It was a little sharp on the tongue, perhaps suggesting it was past its best, but there is so much invested in that nose that I put up with its shortcomings... Incessant Wining
Knowing it is from Greece might bias the impression but but tasting this wine really makes you think about the quite distinctive smells you face when wandering a Greek forest. Might sound like bull shit, but that is what comes to mind. Earthy aromas and flavor, not much fruit at all after 7 years of aging. Pine, thyme and olive (a little bit acrid), somewhat spicy. Ruby red, strong but smooth tannins, medium acidity and body, bone dry. A very cool experience and a wine I really enjoyed!
Ruby red color. Medium nose with mix of dried tomatoes, cherries and black olives aromas. Medium body with pleasant cherry and blueberry notes and tannic structure filled with dried tomatoes, dark chocolate and floral hints. Medium + dry finish. Limited acidity. (*) Interesting blend from Boutari. Great companion to Greek saucy dishes.
At Boutaris for world xinomavro day. Not a straight xino, this one. A bit rounded by the French varieties
Deep ruby with garnet hues. Dry, tannic, medium body. Tomato and olive paste, red apple, clove. Medium+ finish.
I read that many people tasted black olives - didn't come to mind initially, but I agree. Also, nice oaky nose. I enjoyed it
Excellent red from Naoussa, Imathia, Greece. Main grape is the Xinomavro. Good full taste with a lot of red and black fruit.
Syrupy texture, drying mouthfeel, jammy. Wow, this is good stuff.
First Greek wine , i think , went well with lamb dish
Good vine, both with food and without ;)
Surprisingly good. High tannins.
Plum, black cherry, raspberry, leather
Fruity, easy to dring, good companion to sea food dinner
Tart at first, but let it breathe and it’s lovely. A great mid-priced Greek red.
Red wine wry nice for red meat.
Medium body, low tannins, still very entertaning with superlong figs and blackberry aftertaste. No.1 choice for ordinary Saturday evening while in Greece.
Lovely and smooth 🇬🇷 solid 4*
A good wine !
Johannisbeere, samtig

Kræver lidt tid for at åbne.
Spicy. Dry. Greek.
Taglio bordolese barricato, ottimo
Sehr solider griechischer Wein. Helle Farbe aber doch relativ intensiv. Kirsche ist präsent
not bad for greek wine. very rich flavor, high tanin taste, excellent for souvlaki :))) worth trying
First night in Elounda, Crete at our villa with Moussaka. @[1|63252629|Somm Michaela]
Not bad, but for 2017 don’t have that reach taste and aromas characteristic for aged wines.
God fylde Mild duft Smak av plomme, Tørr
Blend of Xinomavro, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot from Macedonia Greece. Medium body, smooth tannins, fruity, medium aftertaste. For sure can be aged much more.
Mild tertiary aromas, medium+ body, tobacco, leather, plum, smooth and long aftertaste
Quite a tasty Greek red. At old Bexley taverna. £23 I think
QnD notes: BXD style blend and pretty good. Flavours of cassis, black olives and a hint of vanilla on the finish.
🌏 The initial few sips were disappointing, but after several minutes in the glass it turned out not to be too bad. A cuvée of Xinomavro, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah, contrary to the Greek restaurateur's opinion, went quite well with the gyros with rice. Kupaż Xinomavro, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot i Syrah, wbrew opinii greckiego restauratora, całkiem nieźle pasowało do
Rimane scorbutico, comunque gradevole
Very decent wine from the known Boutari estate. Nose: black fruit / licorice candy. Taste: licorice candy with mint aftertaste. Yum!
Dry, tart, dark red wine from barrel. Rather specific, but for those who likes such. Nose: fig, prune Taste: tart, oak barrel, prune.
A red blend of xinomavro, CB, syrah and merlot with different aging in French or American oak barrels. It has aged nicely, but has more to give.
Cherry, chocolate, vanilla. Medium body, high acidity, dry tannins. Italian style red. Drinkable with food and on its own. Good. 15.5
My advanture to Greek wines continues. This is interesting one. High tannins and ripe plum on palate. Long aftertaste. Dark red Ruby colors and goes well with meat.
Medium bodied Bordeaux like style from north Greece. 2020. 13.5 alco. Cherry, leather, chocolate. Higher tannins. Medium aftertaste. Interesting
Okayish red from Greece. Bought in a local Greek shop. Intense flavourwise, but not a very beautiful color, a bit thin in the mouth, a bit too much tannins and some earthy Pinot Noir-style flavours which the just do better in Burgundy. But it wasn't completely bad though. Wouldn't buy again (for 13,50)
A nice Xinomauro by one of the eldest producers. Medium ruby in colour. Medium nose intensity with cherry, tomato, sundried tomato, black olive, plum, sour cherry, oak, charred wood, pepper. On the palate it is dry with medium acidity, high tannins, medium alcohol, medium body, medium palate intensity and finish. Can still be aged for very few more years.
Blend of Xinomavro(no less than 35%), Merlot, Cab. Sauv. & Syrah! The percentage of the international varieties in the blend is decided by the winemaker & depends on the year! I expected less since the sub 10€ wines of Boutaris are mediocre, but this one delivered! Dark ruby color & good 👃 of dark fruits & sun-dried tomato! Medium bodied 👄 with aromas of plum, licorice, raspberry, cherries & vanilla! Medium acidity & good but not aggressive tannins with medium finish! A nice blend with good ag
Deep dark red almost impenetrable consistent the tertiary component are prevalent. Cherry compost chocolate and liquorice. Dry warm tannic tannin that are not yet mature. The wine however is ready. In any case a complex wine not easy to drink but worth trying with red meat.
Medium+ nose full of strawberry. Pallet is dry with soft tannins, medium body, medium accidity. Strawberry and tomato are evident with hints of licorice and tobacco. A rather simple but very enjoyable wine. Good value for money. 3.6🌟
3.7⭐ 86pt. Probably the oldest of Greek Cava labels, Xinomavro based blend with Syrah, Merlot & CS in 2011 mature vintage. Sundried baby tomato & dried red cherry whiffs clouded by gentle clove & nutmeg scents. Velvety freshness coats with supple m tannins & interlaced m- acids livening on m body. Red cherry sauce & dried blackberry taste with delicate vanilla, tobacco & clove notes rounding up on drying m exit. ✍🏻Delicious taste, mature character & superb value. 2011 drinks till 2024-25 nice
A more recent year of this iconic xynomavro! A bit tanic compared to the 2010 but nevertheless a very fair wine!!!!
Very nice with the saganaki and lamb. It cut through the heaviness.
Ruby Red colour, typical nose with tomato sauce, olive paste and some floral fragances. Light palate, seems it starts to fade out!
Needs time to open up, at the beggining was dissapointing but it got much better. Still it didn't come up to our expectations
Dark ruby color with nose of blackberries, plum, vanilla and smoke. Intense oaky notes on the palate. Aggressive tannins, medium bodied, low acidity. Medium finish.
A bit too dry but with some ripe strawberries and stewed raspberries. Could go with anything and went well with a Greek feast with the sea two feet away.
An unfortunately overrated red or the keeping conditions were not appropriate Nose was closed with distant red fruits Palate had med - body, med - tannins Med aftertaste
A full bodied and pleasant wine. A deep red colour and intense heavy flavour, almost over ripe fruit in taste. This would go well with red meats, strong cheeses and Chile con carne.
