One of the most complex Pinot Noirs from Martinborough! earthy and tabacco, black fruit, fine oak, cherries and chocolate
Stunning Martinborough Pinot 🍷
I was crazy giving it a 4.1 before. They must have served it badly 😂 This is a perfect chardonnay. Light and toffee popcorn, fudge, butter, butterscotch, Donald says cheesecake. Much lighter on the green apple etc LOVE IT!!!!! Rita Wellington 💖
Just the right amount of tannins, bold boysenberry, cinnamon, savory
Perfectly balanced, oak isn't overpowering and very smooth. Bought from the Ata Rangis Cellar Door, fantastic experience and to find it tastes just as brilliant with the bottle you bought home when not you're not in the enamored and slightly inebriated state you're in whilst wine tasting:)
Second time around, on second day of opening: Blackcurrant on nose Deep ruby on palate black pepper after taste
Very aromatic. Rich in flavors. Smooth in the palate. Raspberry, strawberry, and cherry notes with a hint of oak, nutmeg, and chocolate. I recommend this wine.
Dark red fruit, baking spices, cloves, nutmeg. The clay soils give it slightly more tannins than the Home blend. Still really smooth.
A stunning NZ wowzer. Black fruit, stone, anise, leather and savoury inside. Tannins are strong now, but who cares when it’s this good?
Creamy apple and fantastic length, very drinkable
I super love this wine. Light fruit flavor with notes of blackberry, plum, and blackcurrant. A bit spicy, Medium tannins.
Full bodied, smooth, berries/ fruity flavor
Wine tasting special in New Zealand. Last wine.
Oaky with dried red fruit, dried herbs, leaves, leather. Mouth fruity with red currant and raspberry. Smooth tannin. Great acidity. Drink now or wait.
After dinner drinks - Anything but the ABC dinner Red fruit cherry wild strawberry chalk graphite oak mushroom
Red cherry, damson plum and violet, layered with star anise, cardamom and dried thyme. The palate is seamless, combining depth with clarity, carried on silken tannins and a long, elegant line of acidity
Tastes much more like a French pinot than a NZ one. Very earthy, mushroom, a little woody. Baked cherry flavors pair beautiful with these forest floor notes.
Yet another powerful wine from ATA RANGI: Color: a medium dark red, transparent, typically for Pinot noir; Nose: fresh, raspberries, some dark fruits also come across, good integrated oak; Palate: on this wine I got more or less cranberries, cherries, sour cherries, not heavy, not lush, nice elegance; It’s a delicious wine wine which shows a lot of elegance, which I like 👌
Weather hit the vines in spring so reducing yield on this 2.5 ha vineyard from which the winemaker’s ‘own-label’ wines come. The concentration shows. 70% whole bunch. Phenolic nose blows off. Cherry and spiced plum on the nose. Cheesey umami note, gentle grip and gentle build up on intensity. It’s suoridinglg calm, but it leave quite a powerful deeply spiced fruit note in the finish. Then the pure fruit gum flavour arrives and hangs around deliciously. Pretty different.
Sour cherries and berries, great mouth feel.
Smoky, plums, raspberries, wet forest floor, all in all very ripe fruit, nice, maybe for me a little bit too much oak, a good length, finish: it ends up with notes of oak; Yeah, another fine wine from New Zealand, from a highly recommended winery from Martinborough! Thx again for this wine! 🤟
Smakte denne første gang for snart 2 år siden på vingården i New Zealand. Intens smak. Kirsebær og lær.
Kotinga Vineyard. Dunkler, mehr Schwarzkirsche, Zwetschke, Wacholder, sanfte Tannine.
An impressive pinot noir. Smooth and sophisticated. Rose petal, raspberry and spice.
Excellent stuff, Martinborough near Wellington is perhaps my favourite NZPN region & this great example was aged 11m in 30% new oak. Med ruby. M+ aroma intensity, slightly stalky w. fragrant violet & dried rose. Bitter cocoa nibs, blueberry, black cherry, blackberry & raspberry. Focused & youthful. Dry. Vibrant & ripe w. good perfume to the cherry, black cherry, blackberry, plum & wild strawberry. M+ alc, m+ acid, crunchy m+ tannins & a long finish w. earthy liquorice spice, vanillin & a hint

This has depth and ooze class instead of fruit driven kiwi PN. Abv 14. Limited edition production which they don do this every year. Cherry, raspberries, wet forest floor, dried herbs, mushroom and a hint of floral. A good one.
2020 Ata Rangi Kotinga Pinot Noir. A carry-on wine from NZ. Kotinga is a limited release, it's awesome! Raspberry and plums on the nose, added smoky and wet forest, juicy fruit on the palate. Good oak touch. The hidden gem from Marlborough! Tasted in Apr 2024.
Limited TN. V primary. Great flavours and still plenty of cellaring ahead.
2020 vintage: great pinot aroma. Slightly tannic and edgy - I like it. Slight preference for this one over the signature pinot.
Drank at Cassia. Aromatic and easy to drink. Attendees also liked it.
Pale Garnet Nose Pronounced intensity Red currant red cherry raspberry strawberry violet toast smoke mushroom forest floor Developing Palate Dry High acidity Med alcohol Med + body Med tannin Pronounced intensity Long finish Quality - outstanding Balance 1 Length 1 Intensity 1 Complexity 1 Drink now potential for further ageing
More perfumed aromatic nose than Ata Rangi or Dry River. Fleshy but silky almost slippery mouth feel & fruit forward but restrained. It doesn't have the depth of flavour or the complexity of the Ata Rangi or Dry River Pinot's tasted alongside. 📝 younger vines on clay which provides some more spice.
At Ata Rangi
I love this! ❤️🍷 Becky LOVVVVES This one.
Juicy mouthfeel, spicy, sticky medium tannins, baked cinnamon/star anise cake.
Blackberry and boysenberry with a hint of spice amd cedar. Juicy.
2020 vintage: restrained aroma. Fairly fruity pinot, a little more on the California end of the spectrum.
Refreshing. Easy to drink. Not too sweet. Notes of strawberry, watermelon, and pomegranate with a hint of white pepper and cinnamon.
Lovely rose. Not sweet or traditional strawberries or cream. Drier than most. Refreshing.
(Glass) @ Lamont’s Cottesloe 20 of Australasia’s finest Pinots Bracket 2 Wine # JJ 18, Benji 17.5+, Brendan 16.5 Leather, med acid, super herbal, fine tannin, soft, closed, VA, too much stem and whole bunch? Brendan likes de-stem, he is not the whole bunch camp
Light ruby colour. Raspberry, plum, cassis and vanilla in the nose. Medium acidity and lovely smooth texture. Soft tannins. Less fruity on the palette than the expected, quite savoury with herbs and oak. Pleasant but found myself wanting more.
Potiki meaning last born in Maori, these grapes are from newer plantings. At the cellar door and read the tasting notes which say white peach, almond, orange blossom and they're spot on. Beautiful balance and poise, complex, very mineral. Would love to track the evolution of this.

Intense nose of white peach, almonds, and a very lively acidity for a Chardonnay. Anna didn’t like. I still quite enjoyed it… 😏
A bit too oaked for my taste, but it’s clearly well-made. 11 months on lees in oak, 20% new. From Newer vines. Clean and fresh initially in the mouth, it shows more texture mid-palate. Lemon, nectarine, mineral and saline tweaks. Mouth- filling and -watering. Acidity is there but it is calm.
Like many Chardonnays from the region, a pleasant middle ground between the more acid driven citrus Chardonnays from Central Otago down south and the more stone/tropical fruited Hawkes Bay expressions further north. Good value

Nice salmon pink color. Watermelon and strawberry flavors.
Annata 2021. 40 % whole bunch e solo botte grande.
Good. Medium oak. Not as much to my taste as Craighall.

Not bad, but I can’t remember his face in detail...
