久々のダンブリー・リッジのピノ・ノワール。 本当に美味しい、大好きなピノ・ノワール。 香りと味わいの繊細さが素晴らしい。嫌味のない絶妙なバランスで気品を感じる。 新樽、スミレを感じつつ、ほんのり白檀のようなお香のニュアンス。土っぽく大人しいというか陰なイメージもある。赤系とも黒系とも取れる果実感。とても上品な香り。 アタックは優しく、非常に滑らかなテクスチャー。果実味は豊かで、酸味は強すぎず、棘がない程良い印象。後味に若干の茎っぽさというかハーブ感。余韻も長く、あ〜美味しいなぁと幸せな感情に。 美味しい！素晴らしい！

From German clones and made in Essex, this has richness and freshness. Elegant but underpinned with pepper and black fruit, medium finish and excellently balanced.

Great Pinot Noir with cherry, raspberry, subtle spice and light oak. Fine texture, fresh acidity and a long, pleasent finish.

On the nose oak and red fruit. On the palate red cherry liqueurish. Really pleasent to drink light and well balanced.

Downed a glass of this at CORKK wine shop, Smoke and Charcoal notes. Very nice.

The nose on this is stunning: white musk, violet, wild strawberry. It drinks wonderfully too but I think I enjoyed inhaling the aromas almost as much!

Very classy Pinot noir that can stand alongside many a burgundy. Leather, oak and clove on the nose with a hint of smoke. Fruit is creamy strawberry and cherry. A good finish. Incredibly smooth and well balanced.

Red fruit forward, great length, medium+ acidity, but not sure it can evolve much with ageing. Had at Parakeet, London with mushroom and fish dishes which worked really well. Still one of my favourite English still wines.

GOBSMACKED…. Bought this wine on release and this was my first foray into it….. absolutely stunning Soft red fruits, superbly balanced, hint of spice , great acidity I know it’s not the flagship wine from Danbury …but wow!! I think this has another couple of years in it yet and look forward to opening in the future and future vintages Well Done Danbury Ridge

The best English red I’ve had. Strawberry, raspberry and a drying influence of cranberry with lots of earthy tannin and solid oak finish; delicious.

Comes from North East from London. Aged 12 months in oak barrels. Clear medium intensity ruby color. Clean pronounced intensity aromas of red fruits, green herbs, mint, mushroom, oak, and vanilla. It was very light but very fresh on the palate, with flavors that mirror the nose. It is dry, medium acidity, medium alcohol and medium body. Nice roundness and complexity with long finish. I would rate it as an outstanding quality wine.

This is a serious U.K. Pinot noir. Very impressive, and a serious statement. Nose: oak cherry smoke raspberry strawberry cranberry Taste: smooth, velvety. Long finish with good acidity. Initially cherry strawberry raspberry and cranberry - mid level notes of pepper oak and vanilla. Good, weight tannins and a long, lingering aftertaste.

Very nice. Nose was perfumey with violets and potpourri. Some oak sandalwood and tobacco. Smooth on the palate with good freshnesss. Pepper. Red fruit. Tobacco. Long finish.

A re-review as it’s the end of the rack, excepting the untouchables. Perfumed wardrobe oaken berrydom. And that privet leaved floral greenery that harks back to the disappearing English hedgerow, pesticided up the arse nowadays by corporate hacks. Palate raspberry red cherry brambled English viticulture raised above the homemade to the sublime. Cream tingled spicy oak that is not Burgundian but has an identity. Supple sashayed tannins, kelp swell. A rounded pepper light butter lingers. Dry.

Exceptional English Pinot, as soon as it was poured I could see it would have a bit more to it than other English reds, quite a lot of colour even for a Pinot, nose and palate give a great intensity of fruit, lots of red cherry, cranberry and red plum, hints of darker fruits like some bramble and wild strawberries, subtle oak, gives a touch of vanilla but also still let's a slightly earthy note poke through, dry, and fresh and still light but not tart or acidic at all, very smooth

Again, I’m suppressing the score with the full expectation that this will go one better than the 2018 in time (which I gave 4.5 in February of last year). On the nose there are furniture polish and wild cherry notes and the palate really sings with flavours of Kirsch, dark chocolate, raspberry and vanilla. This still has potential to be a blockbuster! Shared a glass at 67, Pall Mall.

The surprise of our Pinot noir blind tasting night! Lovely dark Pinot noir. This isn’t a normal light English pinot noir, up there with the best, dark and full bodied wines. Vanilla, cranberry with a hint of smoke. Will definitely try this again.

Bright and fresh English Pinot Noir. Vibrant nose of raspberry, smoke and oak. High acidity, low tannins, medium body and a long fruity finish. 4.2⭐️

This is an outstanding wine and for an English wine of this quality is remarkable. This is young but tastes older, balanced, complex with beautiful finesse.

Lovely English PN. Decent cherry, some oak and a lovely hint of vanilla. This would go toe to toe with a decent Burgundy and arguably better value for money to an equivalent-priced Cote de Beaune

Main wine with lunch at the Church Street Tavern. Seemed to worked well with all the different styles of food. Rich cherry, almond, raspberry, lighter earth & mushroom. Fabulous stuff.

Notes from an English still wine tasting in the club, hostes by yours truly! The last wine in a pinot noir flight and the last wine in the tasting! Interestinf to try the wines from this producer. When you read up on the new English wine scene Danbu3y Ridge is sure to come up, with an aim to making serious chardonnay and pinot noir and with plenty of investment going into the winery. And it shows! Lots of fine oak, spicy rich and lovely fancy oak. On the palate not as rich as the nose implies. J

Had this at Opheem Indian restaurant in B’ham. Such a great drop and really opens up at above room temp. Wonderful red fruits cherry and red current, strawberry with some pepper spice vanilla all drank really smoothly over a tasting menu

Dark ruby red with a hint of purple. Elegant nose with white pepper, green stems, coffee, and black fruits. Very pleasant. Reminds me a bit of New Zealand Pinots. Palate is round, hedonistic, fantastic fruit, and light tannins. A wine that one can drink on its own or paired with raw meats, burgers or poultry.

Surprisingly excellent pinot noir, for an English wine. In fact, I have taken great pleasure sipping it. Acidity is very balanced, pleasant. Not too tannic and reminiscent of Italian chianti, but loads of oak and red fruit. Looks like global warming is having a great effect on England. Awesome with peppery salad greens and mustard crust salmon.

A refined Pinot Noir from England, offering aromas of red cherry, raspberry, and a touch of earthiness. The palate is silky and balanced with fine tannins, bright acidity, and a lingering finish. Produced with great care, this wine paired beautifully with a steak at Hawksmoor, enhancing the meal with its elegance and depth. Overall, a pretty good wine that complemented the evening perfectly.

Gorgeous example of fine English Pinot once again demonstrating the rise in quality of English wine. Aged in French oak for 10 months and has undergone MLF. The nose has earthy elements of forest floor entwined with that typical red fruit character. Silky smooth tannins with fresh acidity and a long finish with delightful remnants of smoke & char from the oak. One of the best English Pinot Noirs I have had the pleasure of tasting.

A lovely pale ruby with a garnet rim Rich, intense nose of raspberry, cherry and cranberries. Hint of black cherry too with notes of cedar The tannins are soft with a very slight grip on the palate, a crisp and clean finish with a pleasant acidity and notes of fresh yet ripe fruit red currant

I tried the 2023 vintage of the Pinot noir with the owner today - very elegant classic Northern Hemisphere Pinot Noir - medium weight and good colour - classic notes of Cherry smoke and strawberry with subtle spices

Revisiting the entry-level (and inaugural) Pinot Noir from Essex producer Danbury. First tried this March 2021. Will revisit the step-up (‘Octagon Block’ 2018) over the next week or two. 🍇 100% Pinot Noir 🛢️ 12m in oak barrels Perfumed aromas with deep red and dark fruits on the palate. Lashings of spice and it’s a big Pinot at 13.5%.. pretty good for England! Great effort but Octagon has greater complexity. Raspberry, cherry, forest floor, medicinal spices, clove, black pepper

2021. Earthy, burgundian PN in this 2021 vintage - with a lot of flesh that you would not expect from an English wine. Cherry, spices (coffee, vanilla), herbs, tobacco and forest floor. Medium body, generous but also elegant and balanced. Soft tannic structure, not sure it's one for the long haul. Best English PN tasted till now. 90/100 (over two tastings)

4.0⭐️ Another surprise (tasted blind)! English PN 😯 w whole bunch ferm & 12mos ageing in new oak. Had the 2018 vint. Pale purple colour. M+ nose of red cherry, red plum, light strawberry, fresh herbs and toast mixed w clove. M body w m- tannin & high acidity. Perfumed character. M+ palate intensity of red berries, cedar, sweet spice and earthy / forest floor note. M+ finish.

Much better than a lot of English Pinot noir I’ve had. Deep colour, plenty of body, feels like there must have been quite a lot of extraction but then this was a very warm year so I guess brat helped

This didn’t quite strike me as being as utterly brilliant as their Chardonnay but it’s still excellent for an English red. Really fruit forward with juicy cherry and raspberry flavours

Wine 7 of 16 at wine and pizza party. Great contribution from @[1|13106371|Garry Lui] - could not believe this was English PN. It was lovely. Earthy and cherry on the nose, minerals more than smoky. Savoury and wonderful flavours of cherry.

This might now be my favourite English PN, thank you @[1|13106371|Garry Lui] for bringing this. Cherry, dried cranberries, allspice, cedar and a whiff of leaf litter. The high acidity was obvious but it worked with the other elements.
