Informal mixed bag wine tasting event in Oslo. Not enough time for detailed tasting notes. Quite good. Ripe green fruit, yellow apples, white peach, nectarine and apricot. Ripe citrus of lemon. Soft tropical fruit. Integrated minerality of chalk and salt. Light autolysis, bread yeast and hint of pastry. Medium+ concentration, acidity and good intensity. Medium+ finish. Not up there with Gusbourne. Still a delicate sparkling with Champagne typicity.

Pleasantly suprised by this. All the right points for a champagne (which its not, i know) but still. Getting more of this one

Hattingley house style. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Meunier (65:20:15). Aged on the lees for four years. Sharp. Green apple, white flower, chalk, ginger, brioche. Very nice.

Kontor cuvee classic reserve house style brut, 6,5gl nv, 60% base vintage, 25% of which in french oak. 4y lees 4.1 works very well as an inviting, rounder style.

Lovely nose of lemon curd, key lime pie and brioche. Fresh fine palate of green apple and citrus with a mouth watering mineral finish. Who needs champagne! 😉

An elegant and expressive English sparkling wine. Pale yellow in the glass, it has a pronounced nose of stone fruit and buiscuit, yeast and bread. On the palate it is full bodied - initially lovely lemon and lime notes, followed by apple, pear. It has a lovely long and beautifully balanced finish - minerality, fresh lemon and fruit, acidity, and rich buiscuit.

2018 base. 47% Chardonnay, 32% Pinot Noir, 19% Pinot Meunier, 2% Pinot Précoce. After 4 years ageing on lees in bottle to add roundness and character, the wine was disgorged with a light dosage of 3 g/l. Honeysuckle, ripe peach on nose. Lemon, Braeburn apple on palate. Love a good sparkling from Britain. This has the buttery taste I like. Also minerals which is good. Definitely Apple and green Apple.

Yellow Golden colour. Baked apple, honey, walnut snd brioche aromas. Tastes of lemon lozenge and a smooth mouthfeel with good length and intensity.

This is quite elegant with nice fine bubbles and bright acidity. It’s lemon dominated with some apple and brioche, but too sharp.

Great fizz from Hampshire. Fairly rich and a little bit towards yellow in colour. Ripe green apples, citrus and tropical fruit. Bought at a hefty discount. Wouldn’t pay full price for it.

Been wanting to try an English sparkler for a while. Brioche and apple goodness. Big bold flavors and sharp bubbles. Hits all the good notes but lacks a bit of finesse to put it over the top.

English sparkling wine have their own distinctive taste and tone. The taste here is heavier with a more substantial finish than other sparklers. Not as much yeast in nose or taste.

I actually managed to get a hold of English sparkling wine here. Totally worth it. Celebrated with a mate who was cleared from a 2 week quarantine. Would not have guessed it to be from the U.K. Pale gold in colour which was surprising for a sparkling wine. Expressive on the nose with lots of brioche, green apple and toasted bread. Same on the palate but very smooth and enjoyable. Absolutely brilliant.

The goalposts when it comes to English sparkling, as far as I’m concerned. Lovely fresh acidity, and the right balance of apple and toast notes. Apéritif at the Boxing Day family get together at Rupert and Emma’s.

90 pts. Pretty closed, heavy and oxidized nose with dried up prune, baked apple and nougat resembling slightly balsamic cider. Furthermore, there's fat and buttery treacle indicating a wine with some bottle age. Palate has crisp acidity and well-balanced dosage. Fool-proof expression with obvious lemon sherbet and green apples with slightly aggressive but pleasant mousse. Finish is acidic and aftertaste seems pretty neutral. Fine and exciting wine with classic mature Champagne characteristics.

A solid English sparkling, with a little more weight to it thanks to the use of older back vintages in the blend. Moving to a NV style has increased the consistency, but in my view also the complexity and weight. High acidity keeps the extra body on the straight and narrow, however.

Middle son’s birthday brunch. My wife was not happy that I veered away from French but this British sparkler was very good (it was sold to me as being the “best in the UK.”) Light gold hue. Tiny bubbles. Mineral aromas. Light bodied and crisp, green apple and citrus palate.

Light straw colour with medium sized bubbles. Nose distinctly green apple, with citrus fruit - subtle lemon and lime. Biscuit palate builds on green apple with pear, and again subtle lemon and lime. Medium to light length with yeasty finish - toasted bread or brioche - and very subtle oak. So all in all very tasty - but quite expensive as most good English wine tends to be.

イギリスは比較的評価の高いスパークリングワインの産地のようで、このワインもシャンパーニュのようだと聞いていたが、このワインの前に飲んだ１万円以上するシャンパーニュより好み。 驚くほど栓が固くコルクが抜けない。素手では開けられなかった。女性では開けられない気がする。 色は薄い金色。 泡は細かく湧き上がり、非常に長く持続性する。 炭酸は強めだが、飲みにくいという程ではない。 香りはシャンパーニュ的なブリオッシュ香も感じるが強くは無く、より果実的。 リンゴ、青リンゴ、柑橘類を思わせる鋭い酸味の辛口だが、洋梨やアプリコットのような甘みも感じる。 合わせた料理は１日目がローストビーフ、翌日はクリスマスなのでローストチキン(ハーブ&スパイスと照り焼き風を１本ずつ)。 青リンゴ リンゴ 柑橘類 洋梨 アプリコット ブリオッシュ
