Aromatic menthol/mint, opens with dark plum & dark chocolate, develops into a savory cascade of black pepper, roasted herbs and jerky. One of the best new world reds one could possibly ever drink.

Perfection in a glass. This is a huge wine...in my opinion the best Syrah short of sine qua non. Every wine lover should have this wine at some point in their lives.
4.8 - incredibly aromatic wine. Roses, earth, bacon fat, earth and dried fruit. Perfectly balanced flavors of cherry, limestone, meat, plums, chocolate, leather and tobacco. Flavors evolved over time so that every sip was different. Fresh and clean flavors and savory notes that are perfectly integrated. Beautiful garnet color. This is a wine that definitely lives up to its reputation. Outstanding!
I don’t break out the 5 star rating very often but this Cayuse deserved it. Don’t let the irreverent name and label fool you - this is an exceptionally well structured wine that balances power and finesse. Dark plum and currant notes with secondary notes of middle eastern spice and refined black pepper. Medium plus body with a looooong finish. In its prime at the 9 year mark. Extraordinary.
Wau, again is was able to try this unbelievable Red..👏👏 Dark colored inside the glass 🍷🍷 Nose with several different layers of fruits, herbs, spices, etc. Each time again when you smell again another flavor comes through..👃👏👏 Excellent powerful fruity taste of plum, blackberry currant and more..👌 Excellent finish, powerful strong fresh fruity..👍 Perfectly balanced and a perfect glaze at the palatine.. Perfect wine.. 👏👏👏👏
So blessed to be able to experience this Walla Walla Syrah, courtesy of my new friend @[1|260642|Fleader]! Ten years in the cellar brings out notes of grilled meat, anise, black pepper, and blackberry.
Drank 2011 vintage in 2024. Decanted for 2 hours. Nose: blackberry bramble, plum, leather, cured meat, smoke, black olive, white pepper. Palate: perfectly balanced, incredibly long, well integrated velvety tannins, bright acidity. More dark fruits, leather, saline
OMG!!! This blew me away! One of the quintessential Cult labels of Washington, the Bionic Frog Syrah from Cayuse simply ROCKED! Poured at last nights vintage pour at Celebrate Walla Walla wine weekend kick off event. Hands down the best Syrah I have ever tasted. Beyond belief in concentration and complexity. Intense and surreal experience. Hardly showing any signs of age, this baby is just getting started. Wow! Rockin' in the Rocks! 100/100!!

My first experience with Bionic Frog and man is it spectacular! Wine Enthusiast Gave this beauty 100 points and I can see why!

A bountiful nose showing plum, cherry kirsch, black olive tapenade, roasted meat, charred wood and elastoplast bandaid. Mouthfeel is velvety with soft tannins, crisp acids and good fruit flavours that carry through a long seductive finish. The tongue picks up ripe Italian plum, orange zest, rare roasted beef, mushroom and black tea. Still youthful and there is more to give with aging. A special treat for my sweet honey’s birthday. 97 points.
M(+) ruby. M(+) aromas of ash, cigar, red cherries, bacon fat, cappuccino and anchovies. M(+) abv, high acidity, m. body, m(-) tannin. Pronounced cranberries, red cherries, tobacco and fresh cut grass flavours. Definitely a step up, more elegant and way more complex than the regular Cayuse. This is truly wonderful! Very grateful to @[1|69945|Mats_kl] for my first opportunity to taste the 🐸 👅😜👌

22022025 - Gathering at Mika’s mansion 🏡: Mine that I bottle breathe 3.5 hours earlier have smoke, charred meat, bacon & charcuterie on the nose. High minerality with red fruit, saline mouthfeel with well balanced & fine tannins on the palate. I was expecting something bold but found this Bionic 🐸 is so old world-like a beautiful northern rhone on steroids! The high minerality tension reminds me a slight umami & oyster-like finish that I’ve been keeping this to share with them! My WOTN 🤗

this was literally the most stressed i ever been to order wine because i kept convoluting how hard it is to order the nose is very complex and kept changing throughout - meat and green peppers in the beginning, then some oak starts to give through a bit, 酸菜 on the nose imo. finish a bit chalk and bitter but in a fun exciting way. would i seek this out and buy? probably not, but it was very memorable becoz of the emotional rollercoaster i had to go through to get this wine 😂😂

Same experience from my 2009 exposure. Maybe a bit more earthy on the palate.
Surprisingly unique; like no Grenache, like no other Washington wine. Something akin to Surreal or contemporary art, we shouldn’t think but should feel its inner world. ピノノワールのような淡い色調。アロマも味覚も時とともにどんどん表情が変化する。初めは獣肉?のようなアロマと、コーヒーのような苦味に困惑。デカンタージュして30分後には、ベリーやハーブが表に出てくるが、うまく表現できない... 果実味も柔らかくなり、甘味さえ感じるようになる。好みはかなり分かれるだろう。唯一無二の個性に酔いたい人向き。
What a crazy wine - olives, tomatoes, dried basil and oregano. Really reminds me of a big rich tomato sauce. Very unique!

Boom! Always a treat to drink a Cayuse, especially if it’s the Bionic Frog. Not for the faint of heart! No detailed notes taken as this was the last bottle of the a pre-social distancing wine evening. Thanks Gus! 🙏🏽
What a wine! Syrah has never been better. Meat and minerals are pouring out. I like it and have to take other vintages in the future.

Funky, meaty, bacon, maple syrup, blackberries, and eucalyptus. Definitely did not expect it to be a American Syrah. Surprisingly good.

One of the most popular examples of Shiraz. Inviting aromas of blackcurrant, dark berries, plum, dark chocolate and tobacco. Finishes very long and vibrant.
Great balance, love the mix of smoke and earthy / soil like flavors. Dark cherry simmered in sherry as the final note. This wine could have aged for a while longer.
After 10 years, there is still a wonderfully balanced harmony between the fruits and the tannins. Shared with my blushing bride of 49years. celebrating another trip around the sun.
From the nose you recognise Christophe Baron’s touch. But Bionic Frog deserves its cult status… this bottle was more precise and more complex than other cuvées. A wonderful wine, perfumed and spicy on the nose. Powerful and layered on the palate, with a long and silky mouthfeel. I found it more savoury than Cayuse. 2007. Gorgeous nose of cedar, leather, dark berries, bright licorice, tobacco, smoke, herbaceous notes. The palate is full with dark cherry, licorice, tomato leaf, it’s got a great structure with a long finish.
Scorched earth, chocolate, mineral, black pepper and assorted black fruits give way to a full-bodied, beautifully proportioned 2012 that has fantastic purity, solid mid-palate concentration and building tannin.
Spectacular wine and the very soul of the Rocks. Hot Italian sausage, peppered jerky, coal tar, prunes, cola, instant coffee, and whiffs of pickle juice and wintergreen. Murky, muddy, darkly opulent. Showing great at this time, although does this sort of pure terroir expression truly change much over the years? Marvellous.

4.7 Deep red with copperish hues. Nose - sweet and sour plums, smoked meats, bacon, green pepper. Very foresty, earthy, dry leaves, earth, iodine, ginseng. Espresso. Medium low tannins with medium acidity. Secondary and tertiary notes kicking in. Very unique
The frog is always a treat but it’s clear to me that it needs more age than this. The wine is still huge and very very pleasing but when this is in its absolute prime it’s an undeniable force of nature. My guess is that it needs at least another 3-4 years to start to settle and the primary fruit will give way for some of the incredible depth behind it. A bomb of a wine that doesn’t budge in the glass…at all

Clean, juicy, silky with perfect balance. Complex layered palate balancing between smoky deep red fruit, jalapeño, wet stone, saline, flint, black pepper, and game. Looking forward to the next bottle of this delicious juice, whenever that may be!
