Excellent vin
Fabulous earthy Mourvèdre paid €30 at our local cave in La Ciotat worth every centime. The 2017 is€2 less but the caviste said it’s more than worth the little extra - we’ll he would wouldn’t he
Bandol produces one of the better Roses and this is one of the better producers. Apricot copper hue. Good fruity nose. Elegant and well balanced. This rose has great flavours of apricot, blackberry, round citrus, good earthy tones and a rich round aroma. Lovely citrus in the length. A great rose.
Smooth, deep, rich, ripe. A Bandol virgin. Im a covert. Delicious.
Superb! Springtime! So right with chicken, roasted vegetables and a Sauce with tarragon.
A blend of 75% Mourvèdre, 5% Carignan, 10% Grenache and 10% Cinsault from Bandol, France. Brings notes of cedar, blackberry, thyme, pepper, tobacco, earth and a hint of smokiness. Woody and spicy, dense, powerful, elegant with good depth, massive tannins and long oaky finish. Lafran-Veyrolles origins date back to the first half of the 17th century with the ancestral know-how passed on by generations of wine growers.
Nice kick, good tanin and leather flavours. Highly recommended.

Mourvèdre, grenache and cinsault at its best! Wild flavours of fresh earth, black pepper, cinnamon, bay, cloves and blackberry. The finish is fresh and quite dry. A great way to discover Mourvèdre-dominant wines. Meatballs in a rich tomato sauce, prime pink beef, mushroom risotto with roasted garlic would all be a great match!
Blackberries and prunes, notes of leather. Far away notes of blackcurrant. Earthy, fumed. Dense. Medium length. Really good. 🍇🍇🍷♥️
Deep ruby. M+ int. Spiced cherry. Vanilla, marionberry, granite, topsoil, tobacco, licorice. Dry, m+ body, m+ int, m+ acid, medium-high tannins. Black fruit and oak on the palate. Lovely wine. Very old worldly.
Very good wine. Medium acidity, tannin, body. Balanced. Medium finish. Blackberry, liquorice, vanilla, coconut, black cherry. Primary and secondary flavours for sure. Mourvèdre led wine. Throughly enjoyable and good value.
Bandol masquerades as aged Bordeaux with a bomb of cedar and mushroom. Rhubarb and raspberry compote give away the south of France reality if you think about it. Superbly priced magnum discoveries at 67 are worth the price of membership.

Plum, blackberry, some spicy, leather, chocolate and tobacco. Good acidity and tannins. Black ripe cherry on a palate. Rather long black berry finish. Medium-bodied.
Outstanding choice to pair with grilled red meat, e.g. T-bone steak. Exceptional quality, equilibrium, mature notes of wood and dried plums, hints of vanilla and chocolate, raisins. Long persistence.
A serious Bandol red composed of 95/5 Mourvèdre/Grenache, 50% destemming, 14% abv., 18 to 24 months in 40 hl foudrès. Deep crimson red colour. Ripe mulberry, blackberry & smoky plum with thyme & rosemary on top of forest floor & roasted meat. Blood orange with tertiary orange peel, dried raspberry & dried figs. Overripe brown banana as well as butter, oak & espresso. Solid body, fresh pronounced acidity, well integrated tannins. Quite long finish with dried raspberries & morello cherry.

Handford Wines virtual tasting. Mourvèdre-dominant Bandol red blend. Deep ruby, with a nose of black cherry, violet, earth, thyme, bay and spice. The palate is dense and intense, combining sweet ripe black fruit with a remarkable array of savoury notes. Meat, herbs, soil, stone, pepper. Full bodied, the tannins are coarse and rustic and felt on the gums, alcohol is high, acidity medium(+). First experience of Bandol wine and Mourvedre. Full bodied but fruity and jammy flavors are easy and delightful. Tannic but tannins are very soft and well done! Plum, blackberry, black currant, dark chocolate on the nose and some earthy character came along with the palate. Had a 2020 vintage, in Nice. A nice wine, I would say. Can be aged more.
The Bandol wines are becoming one of my favorites.
Complexe et savoureux
Another preparation for the Provence trip - Classic Bandol - I find it a bit less structured than Tempier. Slightly thinner on the palate than my reference yet with the iron mineral tones, autumn leaves, non sweet tannins, oak still there - wine definitely needs a few more years of aging. Bought in a neat little store in Amsterdam this weekend @BJ de Logie, Den Haag.
Excellent preparation for the upcoming Provence trip.... A great red Bandol. Garigue, ripe dark fruits, herbs, oak vanilla. So nice... On the palate med+ tannic, med acidity. A wee bit sweetish, great savory tones, dark fruit and oak vanilla present. Just very nice. Slightly less focused than Tempier maybe, but very good as it is. 16 pts @ BJ de Logie Amsterdam.
Medium bodied with a hint of spice or pepper and cherry. Very dry finish. First had this at Le Prieure in Villeneuve les Avignon. Memorable meal with Christine.
Very tasty eating organic wine. Bramble cassis and tobacco oak on the nose. Quite a lot of tannin and so paired well with a peppery spiced venison salami. The more you chewed the more the flavours in the wine brought out the spices.
Such a tasty drink. I’d say 10 out of 10, if it wasn’t for the label, such a poor show. Who would put the face of a monkey on the body of a pigeon? On a wine label? Anyway it was only £3.95 from Wine Wonderland so I thought it was worth a try. Winner.
Our first Bandol, recommended very correctly with Leeds Blue for zoom sheep cheese tasting hosted by “The Courtyard Dairy” Settle. We’d decanted it a couple of hours earlier, which helped reduce the gravelly tannins. It went well with our roast duck supper, but was superb with the cheese, rounding out both perfectly. Reminded us of a leftbank Bordeaux. Plenty of oak, dark fruit and vanilla. Long, spice driven finish on its own, but this is a foody wine, from same area as Roquefort sheep cheese
Cherry, undergrowth, soft tannins, a touch of fern or perhaps vetiver: elegantly earthy, with fruit to lift it up, and evolving flavours, touch of licorice, plum, leather.....Still many years ahead; this wine maker is becoming better and better. There was always a slightly rustic touch to his wines.. not anymore. A good Bandol at a very moderate price: interesting alternative to current Bandol stars.
Un vin bien équilibré avec des tanins encore un peu serrés. Devrait faire une très très belle bouteille dans quelques années.
Rigtig dejlig rød. God Provence, med en overraskende tannin og lethed (tæt på Bordeaux, men med smagen af de klassiske Langedoc druer)
Heerlijk ik proef kersen jam mooi balans. Wel even laten ademen in een karaf en uiteraard een goed glas (Zalto). God in Frankrijk!
Pfeffer, Leder, würzige Noten, geradlinige Struktur mit schönen Tanninen, sehr ansprechend und komplex. Sicher auch gut in 1-2 Jahren zu geniessen
In the Bandol family This one is an excellent Q/P which will stay easily in you cellar….warning: intense and tanic wine!
Elegant, smooth, and long lasting flavor. Perfect with some naughty pan fried duck legs. Glad I waited to open it!
Un nez sur les fruits noirs, le cacao, le tabac, un léger fumé. En bouche, le vin est structuré, les tanins sont lices et on a une belle fraicheur pour un bandol.
Doft: Mineral,fat, mörka plommon. Ovanligt behaglig doft. Smak: smak, fat läder, kaffe, mörk frukt, lite kärnor. Antydan till avrundade tanniner, balanserad, bra längd.
Fairly dense. Moderate tanning flavour, light aroma of blackberries, subtle cherry notes.
A very good classic french rose
Seductive nose, tobacco, leather, tar and ripe black fruit. Strong acid and medium tannins.
Brown rim variation and rich minerality give this GSM some depth abs smooth mouthfeel

Un Bandol soyeux, équilibré, nez puissant de mûre, en bouche de la mûre donc, ainsi que des fruits noirs, encore une grosse tanicité. Un vin intéressant et original, puissant. 4/5

Medium colours, and just slightly starting to brown. A delicate wine to the palate with a hint of earthiness, maybe somewhat thin at first but opens up with time. An easy going wine, enjoy on its own. This was not a big wine so I can't see this vintage lasting much longer, enjoy sooner than later. While not as deep and rich as other bigger Bandols, still a welcome change from other lighter fruit French wines.

Deep ruby colour. Aromas of blackberry, black pepper, licorice and nutmeg, leather. Palate is high acidity, medium body and medium+ alcohol, tannins are strong but smooth, finish is long. Based on Mourvedre, but the age makes it smooth and round. Very nice!

I find it hard to tease much out of these kinds of wine The other tasters in the group got "raisins, ink, cough syrup, dusty violet, tapenade, tobacco, purple fruit" The supplier reckons "Mourvèdre at its best! A-Z of grapes: Monastrell, aka Mourvèdre as here in Bandol where it dominates the blend. From Spain where the name comes from monasteriellu (meaning monastery) & first mentioned in the c14 & c15 in Catalunya & Valencia. Its plantings in France (9.5k ha) are dwarfed by those in Spain (63k ha). Deep ruby. Earthy. Rich, toasty black cherry & blackcurrant. Smoky oak & sweet spice. Vaguely meaty. Developing. Dry. M+ acid, high,fine tannins, chunky earthy black fruit & high alcohol. Full body, rustic
A heap of sweet black fruits, mulberry, black currant, and anise. Medium acidity, medium body, tight tannin. A nice Bandol wine.
black berries based old barrel wood, smoked plum, dark flowers, mid high acid and mid body, bit raw tannin. bit too young now.
Medium to full bodied Bandol red with well hidden 15 % alcohol. Opulent, with integrated but present tannins and soft acidity. Plum, blackberry, garrigue herbs, tobacco. Medium finish. Nothing special but well done and well representing the Bandol style.
