What a great Cab. Decanted 3 hours prior to drinking. Dark red with hints of chocolate, blackberry, tobacco and oak. Paired beautifully with a rib steak. The 2019 vintage needs many more years to evolve, however, the potential is there to be one of Napa best!

I know this is a popular wine and those kind of wines tend to be overrated but this wine unlike some others I think holds up to the scores. This vintage in particular is the 2021 and is drinking right at the beginning of its window I’d say. It’s already developed nicely with great oak presence, and structure and textures. In the glass it is a vary opaque and dark color, bordering between magenta and garnet. Looks honestly like fresh squeezed blackberry juice and you get that note immediately

This Joseph Phelps cabernet sauvignon is just smashing! The scent of this wine is striking in resemblance to a freshly baked cobbler. Top three tasting notes are definitely blackberry and vanilla with a velvet body. I also detect licorice, coffee, tobacco, and mild fig. Price-wise this is definitely more of an occasional treat, but I did love it. Time to try Insignia next!

Even better than the 22. Perhaps just a year longer in the bottle or perhaps took advantage of the improved soil after the fires? Who knows but this wine is Devine. Silky smooth complexity in a bottle. oak vanilla blackberry tobacco cherry all come through. But they’re Beautifully layered. I am genuinely in love with this Cab.

Big, bold, loads of berries, leather and earthiness, oak and vanilla, a bit of dark chocolate in there as well.

Had this new 19 vintage as part of the subscription. Deep in color. Flavor notes of cassis, tobacco and dark chocolate. Intense and well rounded.

Decanted for about an hour. Deep ruby with touches of purple. Dark fruit on the nose along with some graphite. Dark fruit continues on the palate, initially smooth, with wonderfully balanced tannins

Very aromatic with blueberries and blackcurrants, as well as red licorice. Floral, too. Medium-to full-bodied, firm and lightly chewy. Lovely depth of fruit here. Rich and flavorful.

Excellent Cabernet Sauvignon! Nose of blackberry, blueberry, black cherry, vanilla and baking spices. Finishing with notes of boysenberry, fig, cherry, cocoa, earth and spice.

IMHO, I enjoyed this slightly more than the Insignia. Maybe I’m a cheap date.. Tried at New Hampshire wine week VIP tasting room. Limited notes due to trying many wines.

Smaller brother of famous Joseph Phelps Insignia, made from so called left overs, but oh boy this is good (and also more affordable). Lots of dark fruit and blueberry with balanced and smooth tannins and inky texture.

First time trying a Joseph Phelps wine. I have gotten so caught up in trying as many regions and grape varietals as possible, I forgot how good a classic California cab can be. Unfortunately we couldn’t wait to decant it long enough but it was still a treat. Cant wait to see what this vintage is like down the road. Served with wagyu strips and truffled mushrooms

2015 Vintage Enjoyed August 2018 4.3-4.5 stars. Beautifully dark, light velvet mouthfeel/medium body. Moderate tannins. I would place this on the same shelf as Caymus. Not as sweet as Caymus can be. Rather enjoyed this one and would definitely keep a few in the cellar as a regular go to.

2016 - very young, but this wine drinks well today with some time in the open. Nose of mocha, cedar, lots of dark fruit and blueberry. Mouthfeel is inky in texture, sticks around for a long time. More fruit, wood chips and graphite finish her off. 4.4*

Top top top tier Nap cab done absolutely right. It has replaced Caymus as my go-to $100 Napa cab, after Caymus’ recent vintage went to jam-town. This wine was elegantly balanced and reserved, very much to the old world style, while keeping the iconic concentrated fruits of a Napa can. They used half used oak and half new oak, as to not overpower the wine with oak (a great decision) and for the new oak, they used half French and half American to get the best of both worlds, again a great decision

2017, $120. 91 points. Really happy to be reminded of the strength of Nappa after some recent lackluster experiences. Lush but not over-extracted and a solid backbone of acidity give this wine a really great freshness. Obviously this is super young and so benefitted from several hours of air to really start to speak to us. Cassis, coffee grinds, mocha and vanilla. A big wine, but not at all obnoxious, really well balanced, I enjoyed this a lot.

Beautiful full bodied Cab . Had this at the Joseph Phelps wine dinner here in Boca at NY Prime . Perfect Cab . Dark fruits , oak smoke plum tastes . Went so well with my filet mignon with sautéed onions , hash browns and creamed spinach . Had a few sips left and it paired nicely with my chocolate cake . Bought a bottle at the end of the night . Will buy more ASAP.

Amazing wine! Outstandig balance and notes of oak, chocolate, vanilla, pepper, leather. Nice perfume in glass.

Almost my favorite wines are from Napa valley in USA I do know well the wines from Napa This is unique. Aroma and taste are like Napa valley wine but it has a finish of European wines. Just try this if you want to feel interesting experience.

One of my favorite of all time. I feel extremely peppery on the finish which suits me very well as I enjoy pepper. Drinks great after opening and letting it sit.

2018 Dark cherry, dusty road, very exotic, menthol, oak, plums. Semi dry with gritty tannins.

Very fragrant on the nose, just as complex on the tongue. Cassis, blackberry, cherry, tobacco, oak and vanilla. Definitely a top of the line cab

2018 4.4pts At first, the Deep Ruby color catches your eye. Followed by a power bouquet of dark fruit and earthy notes. On the palate, oak, and leather complement the plum flavor. A bold and complex wine.
