Very nice, serious Oloroso. Hazelnuts, woods, dried fruits, orange peel, burnt sugar. Intense, concentrated and bone dry. Lovely!

Wow, so many flavours Dark amber, thick and lovely. Caramel, hazelnut, toffee, honey nutmeg and allspice Of course high in alcohol, full bodied and medium acidity This was served with a dessert based on egg plant, liquorish and balsamic and it was superb
Bought in Santa Maria. This is precise, mineral, smooth and easy to drink. Nuts, raisins, salt. Very dry with delicious mouthfeel. Very pleasant.
hazelnut walnut nutty caramel raisin prune
Clear, pale gold colour. Clean, developing nose, almonds, white flowers, a dash of smokiness, yeasty, bread. Medium + intensity aromas. Dry, light body, médium +alcohol, medium acidity. Medium+intensity flavour, medium finish. Salty, almonds, yeast, bread, dryed white flowers, autolytic, a hint of smokiness. Very good quality.
Clear, pale, garnet. Nose: Dried fruit, apricot, orange peel, very matured apples and prunes. Rich nutty notes of marzipan and walnuts. Delicate flor notes. Palate: Rich, salty and elegant. Ripe green fruit of apricot and bruised apple. Rich dried fruit of dried apricot and fig. Great minerality, saline and flor. Hint of cheese, and creamy mouth feel. Soft nutty tones of almonds and hazelnuts. Good concentration, acidity and intensity. Long finish. Very good Fino, intense, crisp and elegant.
Dry fresh PalominoFino with a maritime character with aromas of oxidative flor, citrus, pear 🍐 and camomile with hints of salted almonds.
I'm not huge on sherry but I thought this was wonderful. tasty. big mouthful. but fresh as well. dry with different layers of flavour. converted. I will be trying more if they are of this quality.
Top notch sherry with a good fruit profile. Pretty salty notes with acidic green apple, hazelnut. Good complexity. Makes me crave for some Spanish tapas.
An above average Fino. Yeast and nuts on the nose. Then the palate is smooth saline and almonds, very dry and long. With tapas on a trip to Cádiz. Very nice.

I always say that an Amontillado wine is a true organoleptic experience because there is nothing else not even similar. It also the most sophisticated type of wine from a technical point of view since after an alcoholic fermentation it follows 'biological' ageing followed by 'oxidative/reductuve' aging. Unfortunately these Sherry wines are not appreciated enough in Spain and are exported mainly to UK and Japan. Very complex and evolutive aromas of raw hazelnuts, toasted bread. In mouth, dry and
Clear, medium, garnet. Delichious Sherry. Dried fruit, delichious flor tones and good minerality and balanced acidity. Tones of prunes, apricot and barrel. Long finish. Enjoyed with tapas at Txotx in Oslo.
A wonderful end to an unplanned Friday evening wine tasting with friends: this deep mahogany-coloured Oloroso, paired with aged Comté cheese. I love bone-dry Olorosos, with all their nutty, saline, dried figs and sotolon-curry-spice complexity, and this was no exception. Intensely flavoured, balanced and round, without the residual sugar that would distract from its aromatic richness. At 18%, it is to be savoured rather than glugged, fully enjoying each layer the many years in solera have added
Strong, but not overpoweringly so. Not too tannic. Strong with herbs, but neither bitter nor sweet. Dark and smokey, with hints of scotch, peppers, and game. Quite nice.
Beautiful Oloroso from El Puerto: softer than a one from Jerez, it shows an unctuous mouth and notes of toffee, caramel, hazelnut, walnuts and a less varnish character.
Amber colour. On the nose peaches, dried apricots, saline and toffee. On the palate medium plus medium with balanced acidity, dry with a long preserved citrus finish.
A small personal favourite. Flor, dried fruits and citrus peel on the note (a hint of rubber?). Delicious and full bodied, good acidity and an appetizing finish. 89p
#Prowein 2023 Nose: fully developed, pronounced intensity, rye bread, dried stone fruit, dry fig, sunflower seed, nutty, dry leaves, forest floor, honey. Palate: high acidity, dry, full body, long aftertaste. Excellent, drink now. It has potential for ageing.
Seduced with elegant notes of hazelnut, toasted oak, leather and grasp of complex herb and spice impress on the nose. The palate repeats the nose but reveals some fruity undercurrent. The lingering acidity leads the finish that picking up accents of smoke and sea salt with pleasant bitterness.
Amber color with medium intensity. Medium(+) aroma and flavor intensity. Orange peel, blossom, stewed fruit, vanilla, hazelnut, toffee, caramel, dried apricot, marmalade, nutmeg, honey and nuttiness. Medium acidity. Medium alcohol for fortified wine. Medium(+) body and finish.
Still consistently good. Bottled in 2010. A lot darker than it used to be when first released. Mocha, coffee, hints of marzipan, charred lemon slices and yes, quite nutty, similar to toasted cashew and walnuts.
Not a lot to compare it to, my first bottle of Sherry but very tasty and versatile. Dry and flavors of almond and marzipan. Enjoyable as an after dinner drink or to cook some amazing pork tenderloin with a creamy mushroom sauce.
Stonker! Rich, dark, salted caramel (but not as sweet). Burnt nuts: high stakes this wine tasting malarkey! Smoky, peaty, salty, the old barrels are definitely shipped to Islay to age, erm, Lagavulin or Ardbeg I’m guessing. Ironic that in Jerez they add pure spirit to flavour wine and in Scotland they repurpose the wine barrels to flavour pure spirit. It’s a sort of circle of life thing. #67fromhome with Roberto Duran.
3.75 pours a clear, darker amber. Woody ( Mahogany) brown. Scent is relatively robust oxidative, milder oak. Doesn't seem as aged as the oloroso's I've come accustomed to. Taste is dry, nutty ( oxidative), milder booze. Relatively strong in taste, but of course not as deep and complex as some VOS / VORS versions I had. Perhaps not the most recognizable within it's style, but a good style example and tasty beverage nevertheless, at a lower priced than the average oloroso.

Super complex stuff Nose of coffee Then lingering taste of wood, mushroom, toffee salt dried apricot
coffee and toffee, quite caramel and sweet on the nose, but savory to bring up the freshness and balance in the mouth
Candy sweet extremely aromatic nose. Old barrel aged raisin and nutty. Dry film, heavy brandy without the burn
Dry, notes of walnut, butter almond and prune. A distinctive savoury, saline character on the palate.
Quite impressive. I believe it has now more than 5 years of age very intense in taste.Dark copper colour.
caramel walnut hazelnut toffee chocolate
Amber color, dried fruits, leathe, spices, dry, salty, nutty, long finish.
Apricot, mineral, scotch. Very nice and dark. Dry
Good dry sherry, nutty, petrol and saline. Dry at it's best.
Color intenso. Recuerdos avellanas, caramelos
Most Olorosos aren't my thing. This one's nutty flavours are exceptional though!
smoke, orange peel, cocoa, caramel, dried fruit, nutty, tobacco, dried herbs, hints of chocolate

Color caoba oscuro. Intenso y complejo. Con aromas típicos de frutos secos. Muy amplio y con gran persistencia.
Dunkel Mahagonifarben, mindestens 7 Jahre gereift.
Salud
Amber, mooie viscositeit, in neus karamel, sinaasappelschil, chocolade, honing, kandijsuiker, rabarbertaart, chicorei, rozijnen, in mond mooie vulling, zoetige toets, fijne frisse zuren, lange afdronk, licht bittertje, stevige maar ook elegante sherry.

Stone fruit, toasted notes. Low alcohol, high acidity, with a pleasant and long nutty aftertaste.

Finale infinito.
Nice lovely very nutty, strong smokiness, good acidity

Brine, green apple, creamy almond, full of flor, especially when it warms up. Nutty and saline in the mouth with great longevity. 18.12.24
100% Palomino, NV traditional solera system. Distinctive saline and maritime notes with delicate herbal nuances. Fresh citrus and green apple on the nose. The palate offers remarkable precision with almond hints, subtle yeast complexity, and a characteristic bone-dry finish. Exceptional length.

Gutiérrez Colosía – Fino Sherry NV 🇪🇸 Andalucía, Jerez 🍇 Palomino Fino From one of El Puerto de Santa María’s last family-owned bodegas, aged under flor in coastal humidity for purity and finesse. ⚪ Pale straw. 👃🏻 Green olive, almond, sea breeze, chamomile and lemon peel. 👅 Bone dry and saline with crisp acidity, nutty depth, and a long, briny finish full of coastal energy.
More intense nose of caramel, creme caramel, toffee, honey, walnut, raisin, fig, prune, molasses. Greater body still, medium, with more concentration of flavour and medium acid.
Tuesday Tasting Group - Fortified wines, 1 of 6. We started with this traditional Sherry, Oloroso style. Very typical experience for me, something I can appreciate but don’t really like the musty smell. Decent structure and balance on this one. Apparently my first Oloroso ✅. 18% alcohol. Pale amber color. Medium intensity developed nose of saline, must, walnut, raisin. Dry with medium body and medium acidity. Medium intensity flavors of saline, walnut, raisin. Medium length finish.
Dry, dark amber, fortified blend of Pedro Ximénez and Garrido-Fino from Jerez. In the nose and on the palate medium+ intense aromas and flavors of date, raisin, orange zeste, walnut, coffee, caramel, tobacco. Medium acidity, high alcohol, full body, long finish. Very good oloroso. Suitable for bottle ageing.
Entusiasmen for denne sherry var stor. Men jeg ble ikke helt overtalt. Det er flor, brente mandler og knekk. Forsåvidt godt. Men acquired taste
I love Olorosso. With roasted almonds, green olives, saltet green pebbers. Maghogny, lemon, salty water and vinegar
Great pairing for steak tartare
Complessivamente è leggermente disarmonico e molto persistente. (Alcol 18%) 3.8

Degustatie Sherry
Aromas of lemon and apple and very nutty too, with notes of almond. There’s a feel of minerality too. The palate is dry, with lemon and caramel, with hints of orange peel. There’s a nxie toasty feel too.
Light golden yellow. Roasted salted almonds. Reminiscent of a fuller version of Manzanilla. Clearly yeasty influenced by the floor Serous unfiltered fino with some minerality as well. Paired well with olives, garlic and cheese.
Delicious Fino Sherry from El Puerto de Santa Maria. Nose of almonds, lemon zest, fresh dough and a touch of flora. Dry and smooth palate with more of the nutty theme, tea, chamomile, olives with a lovely fruity soft finish. 3.7🌟
Monday Diploma tasting: Medium gold colour. Pronounced aromas of bruised red apple, saline, quince oaste, smoked almonds, caramelised almonds, toffee, ironbark honey, iodine, pecan and yeast. Palate is dry, medoum- body, low (for fortified) alcohol, medium- acid, pronounced flaviur intensity of aromas with nutty complexity like a crunchy macadamia butter. Medium+ finish. Very good wine.
Well, no one else in Singapore seems to drink this stuff. I really enjoy it. … Marzipan and hazelnut, caramel, a nice oxidative edge. Salty in a good way.
Nutty dates fig caramel mocha leather smoke = very good
Nuts, dried fruits, oxidation, good sherry pairing for the course of the menue

Fino with a remarkable saline note, somehow similar to a manzanilla. Notes of almonds and dried fruit. Not exactly a champion of complexity.
(14,5/20) Good wine. Good balance between the acidity and the secondary flor aromas. Decent length, intensity and complexity, but no greatness here. Pronounced aromas of lemon, red apple, tarte tatin, brioche, blossom, hazelnut, chestnut, camomile, medicinal, wet stone. Dry wine, medium acidity, light body, low alcohol, pronounced flavour intensity, medium length finish. 15% ABV - WSET4 class
Pale golden coloured. Aromas and flavours of almonds, with citrus and mineral notes. Dry on the palate.

Fino with a remarkable saline note, somehow similar to a manzanilla. Notes of almonds and dried fruit, not exactly a champion of complexity.
Notes of light caramel, toasted oak, salinity and almonds rolled into one.
Cheese cloth, mossy river bed, blanched almond, lemon and more yeastyness. Okay but nose is extreme yeasty needs greater length and concentration to be better.
Yellow. Medium viscosity. Sea breeze, salt, almond, liquorice, Rumex acetosa. Fairly complex. Bone dry, high acidity, positive bitterness. Elegant finish. Very long.
Lemon M- aroma of fruit and flor Low acidity, alcohol 15.5 Umami on palate Should drink together with food, such as cheese and olive. Otherwise it will be too pale to drink alone
Medium tawny with aromas of salt and almonds. Dry, high acidity and medium body an alcohol with flavours of salt and nuts. Medium finish good quality sherry for drinking now.
Although a Fino, this sherry is a bit more intense and yeasty than most finos. So not a lot of the salty, fresh flavours I would have anticipated. Notes of salt, almonds etc
Not too complex but convincing Fino. Green and yellow apple at the start, nutty oxidative tones and a little phenolic finish. Well cooled probably will go very well with shell fish.
Biological ageing for 3 years. Pale golden in colour, with an almondry aroma. Light on the palate and salty because of the sea influence. 100% Palomino grape. Rather short finish.
Appearance is clear pale lemon Nose is clean, pronounced with apricot, kernel notes of nuts almonds, yeast Palate is dry, medium acid, medium body with big nutty note, some oak, yeast and dull distant muted fruits citrus/stone fruit. Long nutty finish. Good quality
A solid, definitely ordinary, fino, but what more do you want than classic for £6.50? Nose - Pronounced dry freshness, classic salty briny preserved lemons, very subtle dried apricot lingering behind, with apple skin. Palate - Salty character dominates the palate, salted peanuts, quite full flavoured for a Fino. Lemon and yeast punch through. Mouth watering freshness. Finish - Vert refreshing, old yeast and brine linger on the long finish. Absolute classic, bring out the tapas!
3.7/5. Pours clear, very pale. Scent is intense, very salty loaded. Intense minerality. Taste is full, salty ( expressive). Wood, intense and expressive fino, but remains very drinkable and enjoyable.
Home Nose is oxidated with notes of nuts, also a bit alcoholic Dry, high in alc, kind of creamy On the palate very yellow with decent fruity notes, nutes and also bitterness Overall a nice one (but i am still no sherry lover)
Almost need a rethink of tasting notes for my first Fino; made from 100% Palomino. Pure gold in the glass with a delicate almond aroma and however you describe what sherry basically smells like. On the palate light, slightly salty?, nuts, dried fruit. Elegant and nicely complex. Might rate more than 3.5✨but I don't have enough experience (yet!).
A late start to Janusherry this year, but this was worth waiting for. A Fino del Puerto, meaning it was aged in Puerto de Santa Maria, the lowest profile corner of the sherry triangle (but where the Jerez-based bodega owners tend to have holiday homes). Has the salty, seaside character of a Manzanilla but the slightly warmer and more humid climate lends some richness. Chamomile, almond, smoke, sea breeze, not too much "Baja Mar" which can be off-putting in a FdP. Bone dry. Controlled tang. Salty
Clear, pale, god. Clean, dried apple, walnut, savoury, bread, lemon, vegemite, soy sauce. Dry, low acid, high alc. Good.
Pale gold - medium intensity Sharp bouquet almond, aldehydic Dry, moderate acidity, saline - very dry - long finish.
Fresh and dry with a very aromatic nose. Almonds, yeast and flor. A great match with seasoned Spanish Jambon.

Nice oxidated and oaky. Lovely acidity with almonds and nuts. A very long finish
Light, dry, delicate.
Decent fino. Hits the right saline notes. If not very cold appears a tad watery.
Pale lemon, med+ aromas of bruised apple, saltines, olive, saline, almond.

Nice Fino finisher. Saline, some cooked fruit, nutty. Good.
Almond, lemon and minerals. Good match with lobster cappuccino.
Best of the unfiltered finos tasted.
Dinner with Franz. Yea alright. eh.
Bakery. Fresh. Structed
Nice fino, Manzanilla, lemon and custard apple. Quite a long finish.
Nutty, green almond praline.
Lichtgeel, in neus kruiden, geoxideerde appels, peper, pompelmoes, na walsen perzik, mineralen, petrolé, ziltig, citrus, amandel, in mond een volle zoetige aanzet, zachte zuren.
Good quality Fino with medium lemon in color, has aromas of lemon, grapefruit, caramel, hazelnut, and almond. The wine is youthful and has medium acidity.
Dale.

[Vivino Leuven Encore’s] Oloroso is more up my alley! Mature nose with caramel, nuts and orange zest followed by obvious oxidation (duh), bitter notes and slight wryness. 3.3
Solera fruit like apple on syrup or dried fruits from the cheese platter, caramel, nuts and some vanilla. Fresh and warm finish.
Sherry is not my favorite wine, but when I visited Gutierrez Colosia last February and tasted all his sherry, I liked very much this Oloroso and I bought a bottle, that I opend yesterday evening. 100% Palomino grape, it's full flavored and rich, aromas of bitter orange, liquorice and dried fruits, in the mouth has good correspondance to the nose, pronunced liquorice flavour, I appreciate the good balance flavour - freshness - alcohol. A nice glass of wine after dinner.
Not generally a fan of sherry, but this wasn’t bad! Very strong nose with hints of maple syrup and whiskey. Tastes less sweet vs expected, dry with a nose of hazelnut, honey and tobacco
A simpler easy drinking style for an Oloroso. Rich nutty caramel on the nose but simpler saline and walnut on the palate. Clear pale brown. Pronounced intensity caramel walnut fig coconut olive brine developed. Pronounced flavour intensity high acidity m alcohol m+ body long finish. More saline walnut and coconut. Good. Drink now.
By the glass at Lorentes, Darley Abbey. A reasonable sherry, enjoyable with my tapas, although there are Finos I prefer at a similar price. It has a typical flavour profile of apple and almonds, green olive, salt and yeast. I'd like some more intensity and lift to give it that combination of power and freshness I love in great dry sherries.
[Vivino Leuven Encore’s] Sticking to only bubbles is not so easy after all so the usual round of encore’s covered a wide spectrum. First two sherry’s. I start to slowly find my way in the subject. The Fino’s are not my favorite. This one combines a nose with nuts, cookies and salinity with a watery palate and caramel.
my first dry sherry & recommend having this with cheese or olives, making the initial engagement more enjoyable as dry sherry is certainly an acquired taste. raisin, sultanas, preserved fruits (lemon), fig, bitter almond, coffee, saline. clear medium (m) gold. aromatics is clean, m+ intensity, developing. no further palate component notes. can drink now but has the potential further ageing. verdict: #haveaglass #dowrs _____ 📍@wineintuition 🥂 WSET 3 Week 8 #27082018
WSET 3, final week [backlog] First time for me to try most of these styles, very interesting session! Medium gold. Lemon zest, roasted almond, fresh dough, flint, blossom. Dry and very yeasty palate, mushroom, black tea, sour bread. Special to say the least, will need to revisit with the proper pairing of friends, sun, olives, tapas etc 😋 3.0 15% abv, screwcap.
