アプリコット めちゃくちゃ
Aromas of apricot, yellow peach, dehydrated mango, eucalyptus honey, lavender, rosemary, thyme. You can smell the whole Mediterranean scrub in this incredibly complex wine. One of my favorites.
I do not love desert wine, but when I have one like this, it’s mind blowing. Bold asf notes of honey and apricot (or so I’m told).
Wow what a great port the nose is apricot and then I get honey followed by dried fig and for sure peach on the finish it was very delicious.

Ambrosia. Beautiful raisins, dates, but also abricot or peach. Long finish and just lovely! Great to pair with a sweet dessert!
Excellent naturally sweet dessert wine from Sicily. Intense, concentrated, layered, creamy, honeyed, unforgettable texture. Big nose of dried apricot peaches marmalade figs honey lemon curd candied fruits. Really really lingering. Unique and extraordinary!
First time drinking a wine of this segment. A very different drinking experience that I did not think possible within this realm of wine. A bouquet comprised of apricots , honey and some spice. Very full bodied , very syrupy. The palette has primary notes of apricot , honey , brandy and orange . It really reminded me of gran marnier but so delicate.

A very good passito with Amber colour after only 3 years from the vintage. Peach is the prevailing aroma here. So intense, love it!

Delighted to enjoy this cult wine for the second time as a finisher to our meal on Saturday at Hutong. After Sichuan spice with the main and then a palate cleansing set of ice creams, this was almost like a bonus course. Tried a sample at Locanda Locatelli, this is an exceptional sweet wine with a flowery, jasmine and spicy nose, but with a clean (not woody) nectary albeit light palate. Something I could drink more of.
Redefining the concept of persistence I've finally tried the notorious Ben Rye, the most famous Pantelleria's Passito. It starts surprising me in the glass being very very dark, I'd say nearly orange. In the nose it's a bit shier than expected with citrus fruits, orange overall. In mouth it's a masterpiece, with the right alcohol dose and and explosion of fruits. I have to say I don't remember a dessert wine leaving me such a mouth, here the persistence is on another level. 2nd night in Sardinia. Though not from within region, felt compelled to order the Ben Rye, as such a fantastic wine! Not had it since Sicily (have bottle in cabinet at home), so had hoped wasn’t built up in my head. Thankfully quality and complexity exceeded it! Ladies and gentlemen: The star of the evening in Milano 🇮🇹 was this Passito coming with the extraordinary good Cannolo dessert😋👌!! What a smell😱!! Orange acid mixed with figs, almonds and dried apricots. And what a taste😱!! Apricot, ripe peach, honey, lemon… you name it … but the orange acid loooong end which still has the right level of sweetness is simply amazing - why the hell the owner had only 3 glasses left 😭🤷♂️!?
Superb - amber colour, perfumed notes of prune and honey, reflected on the palate with layers of fresh citrus - kumquats in particular, giving way to prune and pale sultanas, finishing long with a wild flower honey and a subtle spiciness. Heavenly!
2 new discoveries = a match made in heaven (Ben Ryé & Sicilian Cannoli). 🤔Think PX over ice cream🤗 for another. 100% Zibibbo with gorgeous aromas from the dried grapes: it looks like liquid dates, smells & tastes like Christmas in a glass but with added apricots and candied orange peel as well as delicate hints of the evergreen shrubs of the Mediterranean macchia. The palate is fresh and intense, balancing the sweetness nicely. The finish is long & persistent. This will keep for over 20 years.
What a bomb! This passito is awesome! Honey and raisin, with burnt orange and marmelade notes. Such a complex bouquet of flowers and fruits. Pair it with cheese, desserts, nothing... Doesn't matter: just try it! 😍
I never understood dessert wine until today. While the wine community typically tend to prefer "dry" and i do as well, this was not just sweet but full of goodness of earth, blessing of fruits, winds and sunshine. What a privilege to taste such a golden liquid.
This is incredibly interesting. Unlike any dessert wine I’ve had. Apple blossom nose. Applesauce. Some cinnamon. Absolutely some apricot and peach masquerading in there too! Palate is even. More. Apple. Ever so slightly shallow finish that I wish had a touch more body. Doesn’t coat the mouth like a Sauternes might. But you’re trading that for some really cool floral notes which is so fun. Would pair brilliantly with an apple tart or crisp or cobbler. Wow!

Perfect complexity and great balance from sweetness that cut through the crisp acidity of this dessert wine✨ Medium brown color with the pronounce aromas of dried tropical fruits, apricot, peach, prune, raisin, candy, caramel, orange zest and almond. Nose of quince, quince jam , raisin, cream, sweet cherry jam with walnuts (as my granny made), plum, rose. On palate: jammy, velvet, fruity and umami. Retro: sweet cherry and jam. Nice, tasty, lovely!
Hailing from the volcanic island of Pantelleria on the southern coast of Sicily, where winds are so strong that the grapes dry and shrivel, comes this unctuous delicacy. Viscous and amber in color, the wine gives spicy orange peel notes on the nose, which culminate in an intense and almost fortified quality on the palate.
Absolutely stellar dessert wine. Intense dried fig and plum, but with a pinch of coffee bitterness. Lingers a long time on the palate. Oxidative aging is well controlled in the bottle, but don't let this one get too old before drinking it.

I have drunk so many bottles of Ben Rye, across different years, that i believe I would have realiazed by now if this wine was not good! On a nutshell Ben Rye is the essence of Sicily: flowers, honey, balanced acidity, a rainbow of joy and passion. Honey, apricot, arabian jasmine. At is best if you drink it decently cold (10c) and ideally during a beautiful Sicilian night, by the sea!
Reminds me of earl grey tea with dried stone fruits on the nose. On the palate, apricots, peaches, and bergamot. Absolutely delicious! Essential drinking.
