Fortified wine from Sicily . Seems to be very popular but given I do not know much about them and usually too much alcohol turns me off I decided not to rate this one and just follow general grade on it.
Very nice marsala, with candied orange, ahorn and soft cream. It’s slightly oxidative, with bright acidity that keeps it fresh and quaffable.
Nu een paar dagen later gehad na opening van de fles. Vind het het persoonlijk wel wat beter worden door de ontwikkeling. Net wat ‘voller’. Wat aardser in tonen. Maar ook wat meer nootachtig in zijn profiel. Dat bevalt mij ten zeerste. Naast dat zijn alle smaken en geuren wat meer aanwezig. Sweet Easy friendly style, this Marsala from a traditional and historic house deliver nice crafted wine, delicious it will fit plenty of delicious dishes and mostly, certainly desserts and cheeses
I tend to prefer the drier styles of Marsala however for a dolce, this isn’t overly sweet. Russet Apple/Calvados aromas with hints of sponge cake and marzipan. Big dried apricots in the mouth alongside membrillo, dried figs and notes of citrus-tinged spice. Shortish finish. Good stuff and seems festive.

Nice amber colored sweet wine from Sicily, Italy. Produced from late harvest Grillo, Inzolia and Catarratto grapes from Contrada Spagnola and Triglia Scaletta. 5 years aged in Slovanian oak barrels. Digestive after the nice food. Nice aromas of dried fruits (fig, apricot), honey and vanilla. 18% ABV.

Saturday night's Stroud Wine Society Committee Meeting with dinner. Italy was the theme for both the food and wine. Established in 1875 by Vito Curatolo Arini, the winery is now run by the fifth generation of Curatolos, making it the oldest family-owned Marsala producing business. The Marsala Superiore is made in the traditional manner, with the base wines made from Grillo, Inzolia and Catarratto. Wow! This Marsala (my 1st Marsala ever tried) turned my taste prefences upside down 😄 I’ve never liked sweet wines before, but this one made me change my mind. It’s sweet, but rather freshly sweet, not annoying sweet at all. Apricot and dried fruit. Very pleasant. Easy to drink. Definitely great! K!
Traditional, honestly crafted quality blend of Grillo/Catarratto/Inzolia from one of the oldest Marsala producers in Sicily. 5y aged in casks of Slavonian o. L: ruby w brown hues, viscous at 18%. Developing N: dried apples, citrus & orange peels, nuts, raisins. Hints of tires, dried herbs. P: full bodied, well balanced sweet & nicely acidic creature. Dry herbs lead a mid-way with chocolate, dried figs. Dried apricot, honey ends a sip. Long aftertaste. Cannoli was a sweet power to pair with. V
Incredible freshness for 29 years. Hazelnut, butterscotch, green grape and dried grape character shines through on the palate. Delicious. Acidity still giving it freshness but definitely in prime drinking now. Very very complex and rounded. Fresh honey and butter on the nose. Slight floral character. Sweet but not over bearing. Wine 3 of 3 from family Christmas meal out, no detailed tastings notes taken. This was the real winner of the dinner, perfect way to end the meal. Excellent balance and weight to this wine, raisin, caramel and hazelnut in particular coming through. Good complexity and finish, very enjoyable! 4.0
Exploring Marsala: the black sheep of seafaring-era fortified wines. (Only my 2nd that wasn’t in a veal sauce) Cool & inexpensive alternative to Madeira, and to lesser extent oloroso sherry. Oxidative notes, hedonistic yet not super sweet. Murky brown in the glass. After 2 days of air, the peanut and caramel reminded me of an O Henry bar. (More childhood snack references: Fig Newton.) Nice acidity carries the alco-heat. I only get a bit of dried fruit; those preserved orange slices for cock

Prima versterkte dessertwijn uit Sicilië. Rozijn, caramel en noot voeren de boventoon. Stevig in de alcohol. Lekker bij een kaasplankje.

Krenten, noten, vijgen. Heerlijk. Zou goed bij de kaas gaan, maar deze keer is het geserveerd bij het dessert met smaak van koffie en chocolade. Ook heel prima.
Ottimo marsala dolce, ambrato con sentori di frutta secca e caramello. Strutturato, caldo, dolce, fresco, persistente. Forse può migliorare. Comunque davvero ottimo
Sherry achtig, noten, karamel, gele rozijnen, pruimen, volle body, hoog zuur en alcohol met een lange afdronk. Ging erg lekker samen met roquefort AOC d’Artisan.
Lovely. Sweet, but not overly so. Light orange in colour. Flavours of apricot, honey and fig.

Bleekgeel, groenige schijn, mat, medium benen In de neus koriander, gember , almdudler, gele nectarinne, pereik gestoofd, rozijnen, gedroogde gele pruim, kruiden, salie en rozemarijn. In de mond aanzet met pruil, gele perzik, rijpe cavaillon, een geintegreerde zoetheid, gekonfijte zeste van citrus, opnieuw een lichte kruidigheid, lengte 7 sec, einde licht zodt overheersend, mooie combi met Ijs van gorgonzola en Achelse blauwe en rozijnenbroodtoast, vooral de achelse was super met de wijn.
Koyu kehribar renkli %18 alkol oranına sahip tatlı ama asla baymıyor. Karamel badem ezmesi kuru incir kuru kayısı kuru üzüm vanilya ceviz erik ve portakal marmelatı zencefil tarçın yenibahar crema muz aromalarina sahip.
Um Marsala muito interessante. Aroma com figos secos, alperces, amêndoas, uva passa, baunilha e caramelo. Grande equilíbrio entre a doçura e a acidez, saboroso e com bom comprimento. Um vinho muito afinado e bem feito. 17v/20v.
Degustato durante una visita presso il produttore (Novembre 2024).Prodotto con uve Grillo e Cataratto. Si presenta di un colore giallo ambrato. Al naso emergono sentori di fichi secchi, vernice, datteri, vaniglia, miele di acacia e albicocca disidratata. Al palato è di corpo, alcolico, rotondo+, dolce, fresco vivo e sapido. Rimane una nota affumicata. Complessivamente è equilibrato- e suff persistente+. Abbinato a crostino con gorgonzola e cioccolato fondente. E con pecorino stagionato. (110gr/l
Diep ambergeel, intense geuren van karamel, rozijn en gedroogde vijg. Iets zoet, laag in zuren, hoog in alcohol. Intense smaken van karamel, rozijn en gedroogde abrikoos. Volle body, lange afdronk en heerlijk complex. Voortreffelijke Italiaanse dessertwijn, een goede begeleider bij de kaasplank.
4+. Produzido pela mais antiga vinícola de Marsala ainda nas mãos da mesma família. Base de uvas Grillo, Catarratto e Inzolia, parte do mosto é cozido e com adição de álcool vinico envelhecido em barricas de carvalho da eslavônia por mais de 4 anos. De cor âmbar brilhante, aromas de frutas secas, passas de uva e mel, em boca bom equilíbrio entre doçura e acidez, muito saboroso e perfeito para acompanhar queijos curados. 18% vol.

@[1|47623479|Blind Faith] 2022 wine 63. Amber colour. The nose is quite intense with nut and prune. It’s very sweet and alcoholic with nut, fig, prune and treacle flavours. Didn’t get Marsala but had spotted its fortified. Instead I guessed a PX sherry. Once revealed it was an “of course” moment!
Figs in abundance to go with the dried fruits and create the depth and richness. A good sweet wine that I had absolutely no idea about when tasting blind with @[1|21927964|Lee Goldsmith] thanks to @BlindFaith. Thanks @[1|1260249|Robbie Priddle].

Lighthearted Marsala, in a Banyuls style, with notes of caramel and smoke. A bit more oomph would have been great.
Heerlijke combinatie ook met de eendenlever. Legt hé net af tegen de klassieke combinatie met sauternes. Iets te hoog alcoholpercentage. Maar verschil is niet groot.

Buona persistenza con ritorno di uva passa 🍷Bottiglia GDO, marsala delicato e brverino, buono in abbinamento con strudel di albicocca.
My first Marsala. Wine number 4 in the evening, so not many notes taken :) Some nuts and dried fruits. An enjoyable fortified wine.
Review no. 666!!! Yellow / brown. Colour of honey. Salty, sherry notes on the nose. Taste of white tawny port, sweet, aged fruit, Christmas cake. Complex, dry finish. Unexpectedly good comeback.

@[1|47623479|Blind Faith] Italian stickies. Pale bronze with the green rim of barrel ageing. Striking nose of dark caramel, chocolate, brazil nuts and orange peel. There is a lot of toasted caramel on the palate, presumably this is sweetened with mosto cotto (boiled grape must). High 18% ABV, medium acidity, sweet at around £100g/l residual sugar like port. Toffee apple, tea, fig, sultana, rancio. It struggled next to a decent Recioto di Soave and competent Vin Santo, this Marsala short and rust
