Alvar Pinot Noir

A-typical... It starts with a deep red brown color and 13% abv. For PN this indicates it may have been harvested too late... hangtime... In the nose laurel, black berries, vanilla, dough, raisins, dried fruit. Not your everyday PN nose.... On the palate laurel liquorice, med acidity and tannic. Dark fruit, leather, a bitter tone and a residual sweet in the finish. Out of balance, not very good. Nice try though from Lake Erie, Ontario region.... 11 pts.
