15.11.13 New taste note on the 2009 vintage. Great wine, but a bit closed down. For drinking now - 94 points. Imagining where it could go - 100.
Amazing wine, let it open for an hour and it will be like silk. Very delicious wine.
Black prune, chocolates fruity and sweet
Perfection. All time favorite
Amazing!!!!
Very promising just after opening (: 2h later: what a beauty - such a pleasure to drink (slurp). Try it if you get the opportunity. World class.
Wine in perfection. Such a blast of complex aromas presented in subtlety and elegance beyond comparison. Its usually a bit underrated compared to its more masculine brother Machina but in my opinion it is exactly this more smooth and elegant touch that makes it so special. All guests were similarly overwhelmed by the beauty of this legendary CdP.
The CdP that keeps on giving. AMAZING is the only word that fits. Drank it together with Deus ex Machina ‘10 and Pingus ‘03 and it still excelled
Rich and tasteful. Don't expect anything excentric; the Deus Ex Machina just does what it's supposed to, and it does it excellently.
It’s almost perfect. A 100 point wine that is drinking at or near its peak. Every sip is a complex tapestry exploding in your mouth. I’ve only ever had 1 CNP I preferred more.
Wow, what a mouthwatering CDP! Earthy herbaceousness, cooked red fruit and smoky peppery notes. A deep ruby red colour with purple highlights.
Deep, plush notes of ripe red berries, blueberry compote, and mulberry are laced with elegant hints of rose petal, black pepper, leather, and clove. The palate is both powerful and refined, showing remarkable balance between fruit intensity and structure. Silky yet muscular tannins stretch into a long, layered finish. Its unfiltered nature adds a raw, textural intrigue without compromising finesse.
A bit of a gem here from @[1|6272997|Wineman Steve], shared across the miles with @[1|29011840|Mr Kevvy] and me. Definitely up there as one of the best CdP I’ve had, echoes of Rayas even. Presents like a pure Grenache which is 60% of the blend, although the 40% Mourvèdre showed more on day 2. Purity, precision and elegance; you’d never think there was 16% alc which is carried effortlessly. Wild strawberries and their stalks, raspberries, cinnamon and nutmeg, rosemary. Feels like a proper wine of
This was the red choice of my French Quartet to share over Teams with @[1|29011840|Mr Kevvy] & @[1|10821251|Richie G] and what a wine! A nose of raspberry, red cherry, dried spices & star anise lead beautifully to a palate of raspberry, strawberry, cherry, redcurrant, ripe blueberry, spice, herbs, floral elements & smoky minerality, which turn sweeter with air. Tannins are velvety but with great structure. Stunning now but this will last for many years yet - though not sure it will get any bette
Very expressive nose with lovely ripe Grenache fruit, black berries, hint of licorice, spices, still young ofcourse, but already great balanced, full bodied, superbe ripe tannin, layers of ripe fruits, lavender, spices, intense mouthfeel, long aftertaste! 98 DSP
Dark fruit, jam of black cherries and plumes, licorece, fine spices, hints of smoked meats. Full bodied wine with silky tannins. Gorgeous wine!!!
Wow incredible CdF expression. Big big big bouquet which I could keep smell for hours and hours. Fruity (dark fruits), structured but silky mouthfeel, spices and roots, long lasting. Incredibly good buy at the current price point I would say (85€ at the domain).
Wish my dear friends a happy Sunday😊Enjoy your favorite delicious juice 😊Cheers🥂🥂( from Liuzhou China 🇨🇳🇨🇳)
Big huge perfumed nose, big bold ripe black fruits, licorice, Provence herbs, prune, leather, full bodied on the palate, very concentrated black fruits, vanilla, mineral, great ripe tannin! 97 DSP
Epic newborn backlog (2 of many..) I think I’ve now had 4 vintages of this wine and the 2017 may be my favorite. Absolutely massive, with a deep core of ripe plum, cherries, and licorice. Red fruit that is so intense it tastes dark. I expect this wine to be even better in 10 years.
Wow incredible CdF expression. Big big big bouquet which I could keep smell for hours and hours. Fruity (dark fruits), structured but silky mouthfeel, spices and roots, long lasting. Incredibly good buy at the current price point I would say (85€ at the domain).
Tasted blind, the group called this pretty accurately. Agreed to CdP, split on 2009, 2010, 2015 or 2016. The vintner was not identified correctly. All agreed that this was a fine bottle.
Really enjoyed this one. Well balanced. Oak, butter tropical fruit lemon. Good with Hollandaise sauce and with kittost. Had at wine tasting.
Amazing with shrimp etouffee
The nose has a great oldness with cream, yeast, leather, earthy, plum, black cherry, oak cedar and vanilla. The palate has a plum, blackberry, dark fruit and raisin.
Another castaway from Tribeca Grill...what a happy wine. Lisa thought it was all blackberry and lavender. Can smell it 2 feet away. So pure and long. So much sweet dark perfume and sweet cassis
Superb red shared across the miles by @[1|6272997|Wineman Steve] with @[1|10821251|Richie G] & me as part of #Steve'sFrenchQuartet. 60% 100yo Grenache, 40% Mourvèdre. Strawberries, raspberries, red cherries. Bright, fresh but powerful, with really good depth; plenty of meatiness, as well as florality, come thru towards the end. Excellent drop.
fantastic nose comparable to top wines from other regions. big concentrated and complex fruit. not a cheap wine but a compelling value based on the quality
Floral heAd with currant and rhubarb
Had 2016 at tasting with owner. Wonderfully balanced. Must find more!
Full body.High Intense. Berries Nose. Excellent finish.
94/100 Rich and concentrated. Black cherry, chocolate, pepper, and tobacco. Full bodied and rich without being fat. Soft tannins and long finish.
Definitely a gorgeous aromatic complexity, spectacular elegance, opulence and perfection in the palate, wine, which earned its place in every basement.
92 Aroma had blackberries, oak, leather and tobacco. Over the palate came black currants, blueberries, leather, integrated oak, tobacco and fennel. Medium acidity, medium plus tannins and dry.
A Matter of Taste in Zurich. 96 Points, drink now until 2035. Medium deep ruby, extremely profound nose of red berries kirsch, plums and also slightly animalic (not sure how much, but certainly a significant part of Mourvedre). Full bodied but at the same time perfectly balanced, this great CDP finishes ultra long.
TN #3000. Things are getting serious ! 60% very old Grenache (planted in 1905) aged in concrete. 40% Mourvèdre aged mainly in new oak. Spectacular wine built to be aged for one or two decades. Superb leather, garrigue (thyme, olive, earth), fresh black fruits, licorice, dark chocolate and fine tobacco, pepper and clove. So complex and elegant with a sail of gorgeous tannins. A monument in the making ! Cheers all and have a great weekend.
Nothing Really Ends (Deus) This 2010 Chateauneuf du Pâpe, Deus-Ex Machina was extremely full-bodied, dense and concetrated. A real powerhouse with truckloads of blueberries, blackberries, licorice, coffee, vanillin and underwood. The tannins are noticeable, and somewhere between grainy and silky. This formidable deep red wine, ended in a 60+ second finish and has about thirty years to get even better.
Great drink! Almost perfect. After an hour breathing. Med body velvety tannins. Layered and delicious. Not heavy.
This is way too young, but it's very impressive nonetheless! Tannic, repressed fruit, delicious long aftertaste. Would love to try it in 5-10 years
A blessing from Teri. Light spice on the nose. Smooth as silk and medium bodied. Cherry and tobacco on the palate. So delicious, such a treat.
Absolutely dynamite wine. Perfect time to drink. Still has great fruit but starting to soften and age nicely. At CC w Mike, Ed, Tom and James
Terrific CDP, 60% Grenache and 40% Mourvèdre. Peppery, but very smooth and delicious. I paired it with a spicy chicken soup. Perfection!
The best CdP tasted to date! Rich, fullbodied, harmonic and well dressed. Ripe red berries, smoked wood and distinct oaky liquirice
Appearance: Strawberry red with terracotta edge. Nose: Roasted lamb, fruity strawberry. Mouth: Candied fruits snd spices. Tannic smooth 96p
Spectular CDP. notes of dates/fig on the nose, the palate reveals a velvety texture, smooth and long finish. Complex and very fine wine
Remarkable. Could use another 3 years to age. Blackberry and plum with leather. Went great with steak and held up beautifully. Amazing!
Brilliant and at a great age. Spicy, blueberries, meaty notes, Mediterranean herbs, incredible round tannins and good acidity. TS
Dark full bodied wine. Chewy rich tannins. Herbal and liquorice notes and lots of spice. Nose full of dark cherries and tobacco. Outstanding
Tank sample of the 2012. Fantastic and much less rich than past vintages. A better minerality. Is that because Parker has retired?!!
Magnificent 100% grenache. Very close to 5*.
Dense potpourri of red and dark stonefruit interwo en with wild herbs and milk chocolate. 16% ABV bit obvious. More open next day but slightest hint of oxidation.
Medium to medium + body with a medium tannin and a medium to medium + acidity. Notes of black cherry, plums, licorice, tobacco and a soft underlying pepper touch.
(4,7) Heavy and intense wine, with heavy, chalky tannins. This needs time. Black pepper, black cherries, rosemary, earth, leather. Very robust. Dry and bold. Big wine.
Intense black fruit , garrigue Very intense nose palate and finish Smooth tannins alcohol high (16%) but not dominating Definitely upper league chateauneuf 96-7 pts(rp 98 pts)
Almost ink black in colour, this wine is so powerful. Bold body with elaborate black fruits, caramel, vanilla, herbs and spices. Couldn’t believe it is a 100% Grenache. Amazing.
Solid aroma of wild, leather, graphite, preserved plum, and solid flavour of clove, star anise, cinnamon, and preserved plum, finished by graphite and mineral. Cool, sturdy, magnificent.
A very good wine. Very concentrated but still velvety soft. Very complex with many layers. It might be unfair to say it disappoints. But compared to Clos du Caillou from 2007 it does.
Wow this is a seriously great CdP. Nose is all sweet cherry and raspberry. Palate is really delicious, lots of dense red fruits and spice. 16% abv. My word. It wears its high alcohol quite lightly.
Oaky, red fruit, bold, licorice, tobacco. Delicious wine, perhaps a bot on the sweet side for me, but very robust flavor profile with lots to discover.
16% Amazing wine. Didn't notice the high alcohol at all. All still possesses the Cdp (old world) restraint with incredible depth and layers to boost. 1-2 decades too early but I must say this is the most expressive Ex Machina (even at this age) I ever had.
heat vintage report #10 👃 intense, sweet dark fruit, pipe tobacco, herbs & cedar 👄 mouth-filling, incredible dense and complex, in perfect harmony, elegant acid structure, fine grained tannins, full bodied dried plums, figs, raisins, wild strawberries, chocolate, bacon fat, nutmeg, rosemary, autumn leaves & liquorice 🎯 powerful sweet tart very long lasting finish 📝 a fully matured opulent powerhouse of extraordinary class (RP 99P) that can’t hide the heat completely 💣💥 HRT dear fr
Bright ruby in colour. Red cherries, defined dark berries, cassis, subtle vanilla, and notes of ceder, and violets in the aroma. Flavour of spices, tobacco box, swet leather, subtle vanilla, dried herbs, and violets. 92.
Wow what a CdP - have had a fair amount of Vaudieu and Janasse lately, which really made this bottle stand out. It's heavier, and while the fruit is quite intense, it leans more towards black fruit than the candied red fruit of mostly/all grenache CdPs. The mourvedre really dominates, it's steely and thick with a long finish. Acid is a little subdued, but this wine feels like a baby. Superb!
Close to perfection. Great wine.60% Grenache.40% Mouverdre. Saturated Pure colour. Crewe of cassis, kirsch liqueur, Licorice, spring flowers and hints of spices. Round and sweet integrated tannins. Unique, complex and outstanding wine. Try it. It is fantastic.
Wine no. 11 of the night. Dark to medium red with slightly brown edges. Warm nose with plums and prunes. Powerful and spicy wine. Some sweetness and mild tannins. 4.5 stars / 96 points. RP/WA gives 99 points.
Very good. Elegant balance, rich red fruits & good mellow acidity. Tannins are smooth, it's drinking well. Perhaps a little heat here though, which is really the only thing I can find to knock it for.
Excellent !! Bold and Intense!! Leave it many years in your cellar !!
93 Aroma had black currants, blueberries, leather and integrated oak. Over the palate came black currants, tobacco, oak, leather, garrique and herbs. Medium acidity, medium plus tannins and dry.
Bouquet with much meat aromas, but also herbs and a variety of black notes, which go from currants to olives. The freshness seems to be the characteristic of this wine. This is prominent in the palate. It is be particularly elegant, almost slim, with fine tannins and balanced. This product provides a lot of fun and enjoyment.
60% very old Grenache (planted in 1905), 20% Syrah, 10% Cinsault and Vaccareze from La Crau, considered as one of the best plots in CdP. The name of this cuvee is an hommage to the crazy idea of planting vines in La Crau and its land of rocks, more than one century ago. This wine is pure elegance. It has the austere character of its soils, and the generosity of its sun. Balance is the key. Superb potential for aging. Its rarity makes it even more precious.
93/100 Big and extracted CdP! Rich and big. Full of dried strawberry, dried cranberry, dried cherry, chocolate, spice, and pepper. It’s concentrated and huge in body. As a young wine it’s not tight and is showing off the fruit. There’s a lot to like here for fans of massive wine
One of the best chateauenf du pape for vintage 2006! Ruby colour, Complex berries, somewhat cough medicine like, blackcurrant flavour! Really refreshing, little pepper, and a bit of raisin. Full-bodied, excellent acidity with amazing finish!
Boom. It's not everyday I get to drink a 100 point wine and while a rating is just a number, it doesn't lessen the thrill of the supreme treat. A classic CdP that combines power with elegance, and expressive of its special terroir. 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Cinsault and interestingly, 10% Vaccarese. Whether it deserve its 100 points rating is not the point. What's important is that it was enjoyed in the 100 point company of generous friends. Life is good.
Earthy, hint berries - bold and smooth finish. Ready to be drank, probably should have drank it 3 years earlier. Still great flavour!
Appearance: Light red showing mature state. Nose: Elegant spices and fruit. Taste: Warm greasy smooth wine with an excellent finish. 95p
Very nicely balanced. Fruit is centered well with good layers coming in on the sides as it goes. Less pow than a cab, more plush. Mouth filling.
The full experience. A perfect balance of the elements. Plum, pepper, cherries and chocolate. This wine needs more time to mature.
Fantastic chateauneuf Powerful blackberries black fruit bacon graphite high on alcohol but not dominating Long finish Really gorgeous one 94 pts
Charred meats, black cherries, smoke. Has a nice dryness with ripe mouth coating tannins. Good length and slight lingering heat.
Wowwy. Magnificent C9dP! Still young but already great. Should improve over some years! 18/20
cooked blackberry and cherry, clove and really animal strong touch. Nice balance, great potential
One of my most favorite wines. Oak, pepper and berries on the nose that fills the palate with plum and vanilla. Delicious with a savory meal. Just delicious!
(4,6) Intense wine. Heavy and highly concentrated. Candied fruits, brambles, strawberries, licorice, bayleaf. Really lengthy. Young now, give this time.
Suberp wine with great intense blackcurrant, leather and tobacco. Very long finish. Though, need a bit more for me to be blown away. It Might come With age.
4.6. 2019. Way too young CdP, but beautifully complex and balanced, dark berry, cocoa, black olive, smoked meat, herbs, earth, spices and licorice with. This one will age well.
Dark ruby in colour. Vanilla, mixed berries, leather, earth, cassis, ceder, and spice in the aroma. Flavour of leather, vanilla, dark cherries, spices, dark chocolate, espresso, and ceder. 92.
Open my 2006 last night with good friends. The wine was amazing. Silky smooth and well designed, living up to the accolades of the 06 vintage. Wish I had more. Classic CDP
(07/11) 96pp - tasted 2nd taste. nice CdP!! 97pp. Popped and poured. Delicate yet gigantic (does that even make sense??) peppery nose. Dark cherries on the taste. 40 sec finish. Wuuuff! Like it! A good friend of mine have said that some 09's are closing down. This one sure isnt! Enjoy!!
4.7. I loved this ten year old CdP! Rich and herbal nose of raspberry, blackberry, thyme, menthol, vanilla, potpourri, and roasted meat. The palate is super spicy, with white pepper, black peppercorn, cinnamon, and a little leather. Medium acid, high- tannins, and a long finish.
Savory, blackberry, nice structure, acid, flavor. Herb and red tone on top. Minerality/rock. Vibrant. Has lots more time but very enjoyable now. Has shed the baby fat. Shows well for the medium year, leaner than the ripe years. 93 pnp and 94 at end. Nice balance; smooth
Combe des Fous literally means, the hill of the fool. The hill, in this case, is located in the far southern reach of Le Crau which was left barren for many centuries because the layer of galets was so exceedingly deep that everyone assumed vines could never survive there. Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Vaccarèse.
Merry Christmas to all my friends on Vivino. 6 days after I've had my first born💙 I'm enjoying this monster. Just lovely, doesn't get much better than this. But oh well the GC burg later tonight sure aren't gonna make things worse.🎅🏻🍷🌲
Intense, fruity and rich nose of blackberries, thyme, white pepper and a touch of mint. Full bodied and rich with super soft tannins and good depth, structure and bitterness. This is absolutely stunning! 95-97+p
Dark crimson colour with fine long legs. On the nose black currants, cassis, mushrooms and minerals. On the palate full bodied with silky tannins, big ripe fruit on the mid palate. Balanced and elegant for its youth and finishes long with notes of raspberries and liquorice. This is an impressive wine and it clearly has room for further development.
A great CdP in a modern style with a rich extract of ripe dark fruit, velvety soft textures and subtle pepper and herbs. A truly amazing feat in the otherwise mediocre 2011 vintage. Secondary taste notes were just beginning to show. Give this baby another two years in the cellar and it will shed some more baby fat and really shine!
Splendid textbook CNDP from one of the better vintages of the last 20 years. Herbs, spices, wood, still some dark fruit and this typical meaty touch... Very complete, very long. But. Drinking mostly natural, light wines, this one gave me a headache and digesting problems...
14.5%! Just opened: The nose need some air. The taste is bitter. The aftertaste is promising. After some hours it develops sweetness and the bitterness is away. It gives a very balanced wine with some harmonic herbs
Two hour double decant. Deep magenta color. Cranberry, raspberry, lingonberry, sage, vanilla malt, and subtle carrot cake. Smooth, dry, modestly plush palate. Folirm, satiny, medium intensity tannins on the longish finish. Best CdP I’ve had in a long time. Great nose, structure, and body. I think I bought this from the owner/winemaker in France. So good…
This was a bit of a sleeper in the line up….but developed fantastic over the time of the dinner. Very dark, almost close nose. Over time opening up to show some dark fruit. Great full body wine with nice structure and well balanced!
What a pleasure! This wine presents with a dark ruby red. Aromas of dark fruit, cassis, cocoa, vanilla, hints of cedar but ever so slightly. The palate was fruit compote, dark cherry, dark chocolate and smooth. The finish is long and ever so memorable. It's not just in the drinking but the complexity of the wine that excites the senses and produces a great journey! Find it and try it!
A very lucky and memorable moment ☝️ Ordered a 2012 and get a 2007 instead. Told the waiter that there is no problem if I get the same price for it. The boss himself agreed, wow! 150 bucks for a 💯 Points RP wine...😉 Kirsch nose with smoked meat, full body with great texture and elegant tannins, plum, fig and dried black dark fruits, fine herbs, the finish is very long and promising. Every time is on the right place here, a cool textbook CdP also for me 👍 I will get a regular customer of thi
A bit young still but it is quite the wine nevertheless. Light bodied that will develop and become heavier with aged. Earthy smell with dark fruits, meat and herbs. Medium tannins and quite acid. Enjoy now or even better; store it for 10 years. Fully recommended!
93 points. A bit disappointing on the nose with not particular expressive notes of mainly brown cane sugar and ripe red berries. On the palate, however, much more opoulent with cane sugar, tobacco, matured oak/vanilla and dark chocolate. Lovely balance and great final.
Eye: dark ruby with brick color rim. Nose: elegant and seductive, with pleasant mix of black fruits, however without any clear dominant. Palate is in perfect balance: powerful, mouthful, with silky tannins. Very-very good! 4.7
What a fantastic bottle, so much power and fruit on the nose, lots of garrique, brambles, liquirice, pepper, leather and vanilla. Flavours much the same, oppulent but very elegant. smooth, silky tannins, long finish but not that heavy.
2020. Dark ruby. Nose - vanilla, liquorice, delicate cherries, some dark fruits & nice and complexed. Mouth smooth, rounded. Well balanced tannins with alcohol sweetness (16 percent), low acidity. Long pleasant aftertaste consistent with the mouth.
My last bottle of the 2011, opened with some BBQ steak Saturday evening. What a powerful wine, Grenache dominant (60%) which explains the high alcohol (16%), with 20% Syrah, 10% Cinsault and 10% Vaccarese. Dark and brooding, with blackberry, plum, licorice, tobacco, coffee, pepper and roasted meat. Mellow, well-integrated tannins and medium acidity.
At peak with a long live ahead. Powerfull and high in alcohol…but everything is nicely integrated. Needs some time to open up but then it delivers with concentrated red fruits, pepper, herbs, blood and leather.
Hele mooie c9dp!
Nose is dense dark fruit plum smoke tobacco. Palate is fresh cassis. Some oak. Tannins still grippy. Finish long. On the sweet side.
Nose blossoms with black fruit and pepper spicy notes. Palate starts pepper the sweet vanilla licorice then cherry raisin flavours. Aftertaste is earthy tobacco black fruit
It is not because Rhônevember is over that we should not drink Rhône! Celebrating my daughter success on her latest actuarial exam. She does not like wine so we bought her a alcohol free sparkling 😅 For me and my wife, I open this nice CdP. A nose of plum, black cherry, licorice, some pepper, leather. Bold and nice tannins! Happy Rhône Tuesday!
Well integrated, full bodied, top Chateauneuf from the high rated 2016 vintage, that is now ready to go gl(imho). A well stirred stew of forrest fruit, green spices, smoked meat, dark spices and nicely melted tannins. 👀Deep brick red 👃🏻Raspberry, blueberry , dark prunes, salva, liquorice 👅High impact but stillfresh, fruity, meaty, spicy. Elegant tannic. Superb integrated. Long finish 🍽️Matched well with a Blijker steak from the BBQ 🛠️16%Alc. 🍇60%Grenache, 20%Syrah, 10%Cinsault, 10%Vaca
Valentin Maurel of Clos St Jean described the two Tetes des Cuvées from CsJ as feminine and masculine. The Combes being more feminine. I agree with this and it was absolutely divine. Perfumed, violet, wild black cherry, strawberry, plum and spice. Incredibly smooth palate. Despite only just being bottled the tannins are present but smooth and integrated. Long finish of warm spice, sweet fruit and tobacco. Absolutely stupendous wine.
licorice leather tobacco oak blackberry plum pepper
2/2 Clos Saint Jean C9dP tasting @poot. “Sultry”. Black fruit and dark purple tastings. blackberry plum black cherry. Also licorice leather tobacco. Long story to tell.
Notes of plum, blackberry, raisin, lots of liquorice, vanilla, and milk chocolate. This wine is very very rich, with lots of perceived sweetness and alcohol that give rise to a massive body.
1/2 Clos Saint Jean C9dP tasting @poot. Wake me up for this one! Powerful with licorice leather pepper and black fruit like blackberry plum black cherry and a tiny hint of dark chocolate there.
This is how a CdP should be, rather than those lame approximations which trade on the name; but this cost me £56 so I guess you get what you pay for! Enough fruit to keep me happy with black cherry, blackberry and raspberry showing well but it’s the balance of all the other flavours which makes this so good. At different times I picked up liquorice, white pepper, undergrowth, oak, clove and graphite. I also noticed the 16% ABV the following morning!
Full body, not acid, pleasant, butter lemon, apple. Bought in France a few years ago, drank with my parents in Putten. Wonderfull wine, wonderfull moment.
The final wine of our tasting night, earning a perfect 100 points from Robert Parker. On the nose, it reveals enticing aromas of olive, floral notes, and complex tertiary aromas. It’s both elegant and rich on the palate.
Steel alcohol level and it shows ever so slightly. Otherwise, this is nicely integrated, with flavors of black raspberry, fig, caramel, and coffee and tobacco.
CdP from Clos Saint Jean, 2015. Tonight my guest - very young buddy with huge potential. Concentrated nose: black cherries, licorice, plums, violets & earthy notes. Very full body, high tannins, well integrated acidity. After 2 hours of decanting started singing with quite nice balance & delivering on the palate bilberries, moss, blackberries, cinnamon and bit of pleasant sand. Mouth-filling, rich & concentrated. Too young but still 2 bottles resting in cellar so wanted to check it at baby’s ag
an incredible chateaux-neuf. But also a hammer price... Perfectly mature, wonderful, cherry-blackberry aromas, the texture is dense, but concentrated in the finale, elegant and large. He already shows the first aromas of age (leather, earthy) but that contributes more to the positive overall picture.
Mycket behagligt. Doftar vanilj. Smakar vanilj och mjuka päron. Friskt, men runt och mjukt. En läckerbit till kyckling bonne femme.

Rather "classic" taste, fine meal compagnion Nose: rather mild and round, brioche and just a bit of fruit Palate: good balance of ripeness and fruit; lot of Chardonnay, a bit of Pinot Noir, not so long in the bottle but lot of reserve wine and classic dosage makes it rather easy going; medium body Finish: medium long and mild
Drunk in at Burgenstock but little disappointing. 2011 wasn’t the best of years and the acidity was lacking.
4.1+ impressive, but didn't take a good note of it. would like to meet once again.
Creamy and buttery, peach, peach stone, slight oak.
It has been a while since last rating, so great to come back to Vivino in Munich! This champagne had lovely nose, with nice mousse and fruity characters.
Enjoyed with Paul and Marloes in The Hague! Ripe red apple, apple turnover, butter. Soft acidity, very enjoyable. Balanced, long, intense and fairly complex.

Grenache & Mourvèdre; Inky concentrated deep jam reduction; black currant; casis; almost grapey; An almost burnt quality to the tannins; ripe & grippy; toast and cacao as the wine opens up; alcohol at 16% yet still palatable and very balanced. A wine very much cloaked in its own power, could have been a truly refined wine but the otherwise lack of layers is unfortunate. Could use some help from either god or machine.
2018. This was good but slightly disappointing given its price tag (€100) and professional rating. Drunk two more Ch. Du Pape right after at lower prices that were actually better in terms of palate complexity, density and freshness! Also, price quoted on Vivino is wrong. Great oaky Chardonnay that we paired with crispy cod and smoked mayonnaise. Nose of oak, vanilla and butter, some tropical fruit and yellow apple. Taste of yellow apple, lemon and mineral, nice acidity breaking through a medium finish. Great qpr.
Chardonnay fruit: pineapple, peach, lemon. Minerals, some brioche. Good balsnce and acidic backbone. Good!

Delicious fruit. Bright but with caramel and citrus grapefruit. Dry and appealing. 4.2/5
Lovely champagne celebrating my B’day - visited Montgueux when staying in Troyes for a few days on holiday. This is sometimes called the ‘le montrachet’ of Champagne - you have to imagine my excitement whilst driving to this sleepy french town - bonedry blanc de blanc - chalky mineral - green apple - citrus - low pressure not a lot of fizz - lovely mouthfeel sur lies like. Looking at the tech sheet 4 years (48 months) sur lattes - now that beats standardchampagne (minimum 15 months) @Nicolas, Tr
Pre-Christmas meeting of friends This champagne is so glorious and crested in such a classic way. Warm, brioche and lovely creamy weight.
⭐️ 4.1 Firm, slightly developed BdB. Pear and citrus up front followed by baked apples, orange rind, almond and bread. Rich texture, great acidity.
Medium yellow. Wonderful aroma. Pineapple and light bread. Nice fresh citrus flavor with good acidity. Very round body. Mild ending. Super good brut.
On the nose you've got apples, ripe pear and light brioche. On the palate those apples and pear come through, along with a minerals element and some tart but delicious citrus note.
🎯 88/100 pts 4.0 ⭐️ 🏰 Jean Velut Champagnhouse is today run by Denis and Anne Velut and located in Montgueux. The prpoerties exist of just 7.7 hectare. Fully organic run in third generation and not use any chemical fertilizers in their vineyards. 🍇 100% Chardonnay a Blanc de Blancs 🎨 Light and pale yellow with some green tints. 👃🏼An impressive nose with apple, pear and citrus and where tropical fruits dominate, but with some hint of cream and toast at the end. ⤵️ .. Rich and lively. Quite pleasant. The combination of fruit and acidity, though brief, strikes a good balance.
PRIMOPASSO
3.8 Setup by Jean Velut in the 60’s, now guided by their son Denis he produces off just under 20 acres. Some is sold some is family produced. This entry level is predominantly Chard 80%, 20 Pinot Noir, a decent aperitif champ for a relaxed evening drink, nothing emotive here but well constructed without amazing depth or character. Citrus, pineapple, almond in a dry structured palate.
88pts/3.8stars.
