Un muy agradable olor a frutas, flores e incluso algo de tierra humedad. En boca con matices ácidos agradables y fruta roja. Suave, ligero y fácil de tomar.

Berries on the nose, old fruit on the tongue, long dirt finish. Not as familiar with the Spanish wines, but very impressed with this wine.

Nose is freehand and inviting with florals and red fruit. Yet palate is Crunchy, Edgy, and Wild. This wine is such a joy! Enjoyed the 2021 when I tried it a while back, no idea why I waited so long to revisit. Could do with a bit more freshness in the 2020, hence the lower score compared to the 2021 but still a lovely wine.

A Mencia (85%) blend (10% Alicante Bouschet, 5% others) from Valtuille. Hand-picked, fermented in large open wooden vats with natural yeasts, aged for 12 months in used 500-litre French oak barrels. Glass: med ruby red. Nose: elegant and fresh notes of raspberries, blackcurrants, violets and a hint of forest floor. Palate: red fruit, fresh, slightly earthy, perfectly integrated acidity, velvety tannins on the med+ finish. Just lovely! My best Bierzo so far!

In der Nase schon sehr filigran und vielfältig. Eiche, Erdbeere, Kräuter, rote Johannisbeere. Im Gaumen dazu Kirsche, Mineralien, etwas Vanille. Abgang mittel aber sehr passend zur feinen Struktur des Weines. Fazit: Bierzo, das Burgund von Spanien 😀🍷👍

Lots of red fruits, strawberries, raspberries, floral violet, roses, some oaky aromas such as smoke toast, spice, earthy. It’s still developing and tannins are smooth, it could age and develop tertiary flavors in another 3 years. Sometimes I find it hard to differentiate from Pinot Noir, both light body with red fruits as well as soft tannins.

Great wine. The blend of garnacha and mencia works fantastically. Very elegant and refined. Oak quite present due to being fairly young but in a couple of years will be even better. This wine sells for 14€ in Spain, incredible.

2/9 Tast de vins de la parcel·la el Rapolao, amb domini de la Mencía. Aquí el nebot ens presenta una Mencía propera a una PN de la Borgonya. Fruita vermella, espècies, punt vegetal i flors, vainilles i fumats. Molt bona acidesa en boca, taní finet, gustós, concentrat i amb final llarg i lleugerament aspre. 1.500 ampolles que estan ben gaudibles i amb marge de millora.

Ruikt naar framboos limonadesiroop met spa rood. Door het zuur heb ik ook meer braambes in gedachte. Ik denk aan cassis met zoethout, balsamico en aardse tonen. Mondgevoel zet fruitig aan met een scherp zuurtje. Langdurende finale. Prachtige wijn, maar 1211 flessen.

Coming from a fantastic winemaker and one of the top Mencia plots out there, I expected a bit more. It is a good wine, but I was expecting more refinement and complexity. With a herbaceous and almost whole cluster feel. Dark berries, purple flowers and graphite. Dense and primary, almost too much. My love affair with Mencia I think is coming to an end.

Poco aporte de la madera pero el 30% de raspón le da notas vegetales y tanino rugoso en boca. Fruta roja, joven. Acompañamiento de una tostada con tomate de desecado junto a una sardina.

Sehr feine Nase von reifer Walderbeere und Himbeermark, mit einem Spritzer Cassis und Brombeere. Auch herbe Holunder. Hinzu kommt eine schicke, florale Komponente und herb-würziges Süßholz, untermalt von leichter Erdigkeit. Am Gaumen durchaus druckvoll mit satter, dunkler Beerenfrucht und auch strukturiert mit sehr poliertem Tannin. Frische Säure mit süßem Fruchtkern trifft hier auf helle, feinsalzige Lakritze.

VT DO Bierzo, principalmente mencia y algo de su uva autoctona alicante bouschet, a la vista un vino color rubi con ribetes violaceos, limpio y brillante con una densidad aparente medio, en nariz una intensidad aromatica media+ con aromas a fruta fresca como cereza, frambuesa y granada con notas a pimienta, hierba seca, tomillo y tierra humedad, en boca un vino seco, acidez media+ taninos medios y finos, cuerpo medio con un final medio+ persistente con recuerdos minerales y especiados

Un problema con el corcho, que "perdió o filtro" vino, me hizo abrir la botella antes de lo pensado. El vino estaba correcto, frutado, pero no mucho más.

Bon vin. Doit s'aérer, il a un peu de rusticité à l'ouverture. Après 30min, on a tout de même un nez assez discret, un peu d'épices et d'animal. En bouche c'est plus complexe, avec des fruits noirs, un peu de tabac, de la minéralité et une sensation épicée sur la langue. J'aime bien, mais il faut savoir le manipuler, et le servir frais, sinon le vin se referme.

Leicht, wenig Tanin …

Muy agradable y equilibrado. Un final un tanto difícil de describir y que le resta puntos.

Un mencia muy bueno, es frutal en nariz, en boca también lo es pero con un toque de sabores minerales que deja una sensación curiosa, no desagrada pero tampoco encanta, queda bien con algo que tenga grasa o para beberlo solo.

Sour cherries, raspberries, saucy, balsamic, black licorice notes, medium to M+ body, medium(+) powdery tannin, medium acidity, pepper, crushed gravel, ripe red fruit on the palate. Much better after breathing.
